Alpine Trekkers

I am trying to decide between the alpine trekkers or the Marker Dukes. They are going on a pair of line motherships 2010 model. I am 90% lift acess but would like to have the possibility to Trek for some turns. I like being low to the ski. Any ideas... or thoughts?

I've tried both, hopefully you'll find some of my advice useful. I find that the alpine trekkers are just alright, for what you pay they get the job done. However I found that they are kind of odd to clip in into my bindings (Marker griffons).Another part that I felt was kind of awkard was how high up I was which made things such as turning up a slope slightly more difficult. But again for the price (About 100$) I found they were worth it. The Marker dukes are really quite nice, skiing down they feel super solid. They are kind of heavy for touring bindings but the difference is only like a pound or two which I don't really notice during slackcountry, but during long treks I'd opt for another binding like a Black Diamond fritschi(sp?) or something. So I guess to sum up what I am trying to say is that if you are mainly doing slackcountry (An hour or two of hiking or less) either are both pretty good, but if you want to do longer trips go for something lighter.

now I havnt purchased my trekkers yet but I was going through a similar decision.. I decided that I would rather give up performance in my climbing ability, in order to be able to ski a solid down hill binding on the way down.. and especially due to the nature of my skiing. I would much rather be flipping and hucking on a solid mounted alpine binding. my thought is that If I ski any more then about 75% on lift acessed terrain, then I would rather suffer in those few climbs that I do happen to due..

if you'll be spending most days within lift-accesible terrain i'd definately advice you to get the duke (or baron; but it has more plastic...)
i have a friend who goes tourskiing like 3weeks a year on some hellbents with dukes and he's very happy about it! (he finds the way down much more important than the way up and doesn't mind having to work a little harder for it...)

Thanks for the advice guys, Like one of you said your 75% on lift access. I am the same way, i was trying to decide to do the duke or the jester with the alpine trekkers. I think i have decided that i am going to do the jesters with the alpine trekkers that way if i decide to backcountry with the line motherships or the armada JJ's i can do it, because the trekkers are not specific to one ski. Especially since both skis are running the same bindings. Let me know your thoughts before i make the order. Thanks guys.

Trekkers break and get bent icredibly easily, and you feel like you're on stilts. Switchbacking is horrible.

Dukes break too IF you are a hard skier(or aren't but have bad luck). If you aren't hitting cliffs or skiing crud really hard(be honest with yourself here..) or are light then you will most likely be better off with Dukes. Dukes are made better than Griffons. If you go with Trekkers, I'd recommend not getting Jesters. Get a better binding..

God damn, I can't wait till the Solly touring binding(which apparently won't be out till 2012. FUCK).
