I've tried both, hopefully you'll find some of my advice useful. I find that the alpine trekkers are just alright, for what you pay they get the job done. However I found that they are kind of odd to clip in into my bindings (Marker griffons).Another part that I felt was kind of awkard was how high up I was which made things such as turning up a slope slightly more difficult. But again for the price (About 100$) I found they were worth it. The Marker dukes are really quite nice, skiing down they feel super solid. They are kind of heavy for touring bindings but the difference is only like a pound or two which I don't really notice during slackcountry, but during long treks I'd opt for another binding like a Black Diamond fritschi(sp?) or something. So I guess to sum up what I am trying to say is that if you are mainly doing slackcountry (An hour or two of hiking or less) either are both pretty good, but if you want to do longer trips go for something lighter.
