What's up with alpine this year? They closed when they have a foot of fresh? If they are going to close when they have snow, then what does that say for spring?I head they laid the whole park staff off (possibly to be re hired back)... I really wanna work there and get a pass but it looks like it won't be worth it..

My friend works at Alpine, and they had a really technical answer for why they weren't opening till Friday. Bottom line is... if they could open they would, keeping it closed means no money, i'm sure there's a good reason.

You'd be surprised. Did you ride there 3-4 years ago? If so, then I think you'll know that things have gone way down hill at Alpine. They have really lost that "home" resort touch they were famous for, not to mention all the other super lame moves they have pulled. It's crazy how they treat their park staff like shit. They are all so legit and I think they deserve to work at a mountain that will give the respect and freedom to work they deserve.

hmmm well i stand corrected then. I guess i just have a sentimental connection with that mountain since it's where i grew up skiing... I love it. As for the management, i don't know much, and am sad to hear that it has gone down hill so much. Does this have anything to do with the merge with homewood?

And i 100% agree... the staff deserves respect, appreciation, and freedom to help dictate where the mountain is going.

In regards to alpine being an awesome mountain, it certainly is, and thankfully, no one can change the inbounds madness the mountain brings to the table.
However, I too, have a sentimental connection to the mountain. My gramps was one of the original investors, and ive had a pass there the majority of my life. However, JMA took over 2 years ago and made some questionable decisions, eliminating the college pass and bumping up ticket prices from 39 to 59. This eliminated the young, 'newschool,' demographic, as the took aim at the 'family' atmosphere, forcing us to relocate.
So, with barely any newschoolers to ride the park and create the scene it had 3-4 years ago, its seems like they dont give a fuck about the park, and are focusing on quality management within the lodge to create a great cash-spending environment instead.

Jonas,

have you heard anything about being hired back and when.. if youre going to have the same kangeroo run and if youre ganna have freedom to build some dope stuff again this year?

This is the first year of my life that I do not have an Alpine pass.

I actually talked to someone at special tickets last year about college passes and deals for students and the answer I got was "[Alpine] has bumped up prices and eliminated youth prices because they do not want to cater to the young college age group. They want a more 'family' oriented resort."

JMA is trying to change Alpine to be a yuppie bay area resort rather than the chill place it used to be. I personally think the face lift that has happened is fuckin retarded. It sucks that the chill resort feel has been thrown out.

And don't get me started on Homewood
