hey guys, one of my friends is writing an article for the UNR Sagebrush, university paper. he heard of a petition and wants to include it in the article so more people can sign it. anyone know where it's at??

I just got some insider information on JMA ventures master plan for Alpine, Homewood....and get this..fucking Northstar. If it's real non-of you will even believe what is about to happen. Lets just say you wont even bother ever think of Alpine again...literally

There going to change so much the name is gone too? After Booth Creek put so much money into N* there gonna sell it? please share.

Allright, just throwing ideas out here, but it is possible I believe, I haven't checked google earth yet, but if they put a lift up the peak to skier's right of high T, they theoretically would be able to connect Alpine and Homewood. Buying the land between the two areas and building a massive village (there are allready environmental impact studies being done for new groundbreaking back there on the sheerwood side) would basically create a super resort the likes of which Tahoe has never seen, kinda like snowbird/alta type dealy. Not saying this is gonna happen, but I think the potential is there, let's just say the people with houses on the sheerwood side of the hill would see an overnight doubling of their house's value if the announcement is made. That would warrant an $850 season pass, but until then, i'm going to keep whining and ski elsewhere.

Words... they might have also upped the rates because of the newly acquired white wolf area and chairlift, meaning that to the skiers LEFT off summit, we could ski pretty much to below my house is. Alpine reaching to KT on one side and Lake Tahoe on the other, YEE!

I already thought of this as soon as I heard about the acquisition. Then I immediately went to the JMA Ventures page. Read on how they pride themselves on a first-year 25 percent return to their investors. Buy one of those passes and you know where your money's going - right back to the investors. You may also be contributing to developing Sherwood. Growth is inevitable. I think it's silly to think the area will not gain financial benefits. It's just not my ball of wax. I want nothing to do w/ any of it. That's just me making my little stand I guess.

^well you see, most of the locals work in ski industry jobs or in jobs that rely on ski tourism such as restaurants. So by catering to locals, what JMA Ventures actually means is that they will bring in nine times the ammount of tourists who will then boost the local economy providing copious dead end job oportunities for those living in the local community.

some of the highlights of what they are planning on doing at Homewood include a small lodge at the top of the gondola they are going to put in, one story with storage above.

There was a forum at Homewood a week or two ago describing the changes they are looking at. They were asked if Homewood and alpine would be connected, they said it was a great idea, but they haven't even applied to use any of the state land that they would have to if that was going to happen, but they didn't say it wouldn't happen

I think I was the youngest person at the forum, you can read the article about it here: http://www.sierrasun.com/article/20070909/NEWS/70909003

Ok....this came from a friend of mine whos company supplies northstar with all of thier electronics. The plan would be to close all three resorts off the public and then sell time leases with include and pass and a condo and a bunch of other shit kind of like a giant winter packaged deal. The price was asanin.....like a place for a year and passes and all that were like 100,000. I don't know the numbers it's just what I was told. They wont allow any day visitors, it will just be an exclusive members only resort to combat the continuously growing crowds in teh Tahoe area. As of now JMA does not own Northstar so it seems a little far out. They did buy Alpine this year and the whole point of that company is buying up area to turn into resorts.

Don't yell at me or call me a liar. I was just told this and I'm not sure I really believe it either. If it's true...all I can say is "wow"

^ Liar.

These are some great rumors. There is alot of speculation going on, but lets talk facts.

They are planning on doing at Homewood include a small lodge at the top of the gondola they are going to put in, one story with storage above is true.

Purchase of White Wolf is false.

There is another canyon between Alpine and Homewood called Blackwood. The only way it looks to connect is by gondola. This has been mentioned but not for years.

Purchase of Northstar is very unlikely. "In my opinion" Squaw is a much better buy.

I've heard many rumors in the last couple months from "insiders", but I wouldn't say any of them are totally true. Take it or leave it.

Yeah I don't believe it either. Seemed a little far fetched to me as well. Although at this point I don't think anything in the tahoe resort industry would surprise me too much. I will say this...my source would know before any employee at any of these resorts although he may just be passing on exective gossip and speculation, not concrete future plans.

If any one wants to know the long term future, ask Al Gore. He says there wont be any more winter so that makes things pretty easy.

yeah, whatever you do, don't tell JMA's investors that, but then again, they're proably of the school of thought that believes global warming is a big hoax...just like evolution...right?

to further johnas's point,

development in the lake basin, i.e. High T, sherwood drainage area is limited by strict water quality regs. That is why there is no lodge or real bather room facilities. The main side at aline is part of the truckee river drainage and is a little easier to develop. Alpine DOES have paper giving them rights to build a lift up to grouse, but they would never get the go ahead to build out the ward canyon base area any further

chillax, pay up or leave

either way, the snow will still fall and I will still set traverses for you wannabes to follow
