Alpine Meadows Terrain Park Update

Hey johnas, uh, I just went skiing after a month and I gots to say the park is def beuno. the cliff drop is nice, jea, Im stoked and that would be a good idea to put a box or rail on the cliff drop that would be alot of fun.

hey of you want something creative to do with the straight boxes hit us with a vert box thats set at like 85 degrees so we can get are 15 foot stall on. so dope, also the Tap barrels that northstar has are sicktor i think if we had a few of those around it could give us another thing to do other than slide stuff and jump.like an oil can with a step up , you know what im saying . oh yeah make the sun come out.

when kangaroo closes, winch wolverine and the face, and place a bueno booter 75 feet back from the knuckle. it would be sick for 2 reasons, one being the fact that a jump here is the illest place on the mountain with the longest tranny ever, and 2 the snow will be harder and cooler so it will be less slushy so we can bring the hot sauce all bottle'd up. JEA

That knuckle rolls over so slow, you wouldnt want the lip 75 feet back. it would be perfect if the lip was like 40 feet back and like 15 feet tall that sent you up. since the face is so ridiculously long you could take it as big as you wanted. i think about this every time i ride up summit

umm. how bout this powder. 75 or 80, AND you can take it as deep as you want . Im with chris, and I prefer loading ramp steeze for take offs, if I want a death popper id get a pass to N*.

I remember the good old days when I was hitting jumps and rails in June and some years in July at A-basin in Colorado. Keeping some of the park open will definetly increase the demand and volume of skiers/snowboarders. I know it will be very hard to maintain a full park, but a couple of jumps and an assortmant of rails and boxes will keep skiers/boarders coming back for more. I know you do not have much control of the situation. I am just venting. I bought a spring pass hoping to get some good spring park skiing in.

I love how we can come here and voice ideas for the terrain park WE ride all the time.

Its so sick that Jonahs actually takes the time to come here and read all this shit.

there park isnt good or wasnt good a month ago....but their jumps are built like doubles which i thought was cool.

also, I heard from a very reliable source that squaws park gets crankin right about now..

either way im at alpine for a week or two, then back home to wakeboard.

^ dude...you're leaving the delta to wakeboard somewhere else? hjk, breh. yeah, squaw's got the best spring set-up fer sher. i went to alpine one day last may and they had like 6 jibs, no jumps so i got my ticket refunded and went back to squaw and it was ooonnn there. no offense to my alpine g-funk homies.

squaw definately brings the late may dope assed park steeze, hopefully they'll deliver again because alpine sounds like it might be hit or miss after may 1.

gotta go make some money and make the move permanant in the fall man, plus the rents have waterfront house to keep my boat at...

gonna be at sierra staying and partying and skiing for a couple days later this week/weekend.....you down?

yeah, whens everything gonna be up and crank'n since the storms seem to be cooling off and spring is finally coming

yo jibtastic, were doing urban next week, on a sick rail. plus we should shoot when your up this weekend im finally back skiing

yeah nick's was going off today. the last two on roo were real fun also. i was wondering, jonas, will the first three on roo be up by friday? cuz i want to try some new shit and some smaller or medium jumps would be great.

Nick's run...good place to try new things. Why cab 10 anything else?! Besides...spinning off 70 footers is way easier on the knees (if you land where you 'posed to)

I hit nicks and lets just say its a good bit bigger than 70. And you DONT want to fuck up, I landed a little off landing switch and got tossed like a motherfucker. I went from the crown almost to the fence at the bottom.

who do we write emails too if we want to complain about the park closing? it seems like just when things are getting good they want to shut it down. i know the park crew has worked their asses off to make the park what it is and if the park stays open longer alpine will make a larger profit because boreal and northstar are closed and all the park kids are ganna need a place to go...

I can try to relay your complaint but I can't say where to complain. < CYA.

The real problem is grooming Roo. The snow has become too rotten too quick. All this rain and we can't climb it. With no freezing temps in sight, Roo is going to be ungroomable very soon. The rain has destroyed the top two feet of snow. We were unable to groom last night due to rain. I wish Roo could stay open till July, but in reality it's not possible. This is a prime example of why our park needs to move. I don't wan't to hype this too much yet, but we have plans to move the park next year. Roo closing will not be an issue.

We will start moving the boxes and rails out to the ridge this week. We'll make it the best we can for the last three weeks.

^ Thats all we can ask for.

I really have no complaints about that..I'm pretty down to just learn a bunch of new rail shit.

dude there better be people checking tickets on Roo friday-sunday. i dont want shralpine turning into northstar for the last nice weekend. (meaning i dont want to have to wait 10 minutes to hit a feature)

check the weather lenz... looks like you might luck out. the jumps on ROO are fun. its weird though cause the last one is the smallest with the longest landing. i think the second one is biggest 45-50er. overall they are a good time and very trickable

So we started the transition to the ridge last night. We put up the house box, flat-down box and a banked flat box(nosinjection request). We will continue moving stuff every night till the ridge is packed full of rails.

Also, we just submitted a plan to move the park next year. I'm hoping we will put features from Alpine bowl- Terry's return- Red green & ultraviolet- Low blue. This will make the first top to bottom park in Tahoe. Were hoping to create a run that you get almost a mile of features. I'll let you guys know when I get more details, but next year looks to be the best park ever at Alpine and maybe Tahoe. If your at Alpine take a line down those runs and see what you think. Also, we won't ever have to worry about keeping Kangaroo open during the spring again.

Excellent suggestion. I suck in pipe because I haven't skied one in a year. Jonahs, you guys still have the pipe-cutter at Alpine right?

please dont move the park....... its such a sick vibe being able to watch everyone... i love just being able to walk to the park chair win the morning and watch people for a run or 2 to get the speed down on features. thats the one of the unique things about alpines park is that you can see everyone so even when your skiing byyourself your still skiing with everyone too.....

I dont think moving the park is a very good idea... I can see the idea behind things, but, laps would be super long, which wouldnt be bad for hitting jibs, but if your going to be hitting jumps like nicks run, you dont want 15 minutes in between hits. Plus its nice be able to ride up watching whats happening, getting stoked on everyone throwing down. It is also super sick when your filming nics from the chair. Im not sure if getting a few extra weeks of park is worth shutting down ROO, would you still be grooming or would it be to soft?

Summit and Roundhouse both go right over the top of what will be the lower park. I think if anything it will be even more of a scene with the whole mountain seeing what going on, not just the few kids on roo. My boss is going to turn Roo back into a race hill, which it was made to be. We will start on roo then move when the snow allows. The problem with roo is it's too steep with no breakovers. We are constantly fighting the pinch between the hill slope and the takeoffs. The runs were looking at have large breakovers and lots of different terrain features. Plus we will be able to get a pipe in a line too.

What I don't like about roo is that you can't get more than five features in a row. It feels like your through the park in about ten seconds and on the chair for ten minutes. Every good park that I've seen is way longer than Kangaroo. Also, if you don't want to ride the whole park you can take roundhouse and ride half.

I took a ride down the line yesterday, It'll be sick. More jumps, more jibs and a pipe. Can't wait.

sounds sick man. too bad im not gonna be in tahoe for the next couple years. but you guys are gonna be livin it up...im sure i can find a decent park in CO though :). cali will always be my home.
