im lookin to go to alpine sometime while on break. does anyone know the park setup, to give me a sort of comprehensive overlook of how shit breaks down. it says on their website that they have "integrated the park with the natural features of the mountain" what does this mean like trees and stuff ? jump line? jibs? anything helps a ton. Thanks!

Here is the lowdown:

Tiegal:

Dancefloor box

Spine tube

Flat box

3 small jumps

Sneaky Wease:

Snake run

2 Small table top jumps

Tree stall

Log ride

Goal post tree QP

Container wall ride

Kangaroo ridge:

Boulder slider

Stump stall

Red Trail: (under construction)

Currently:

Flat box

Flat down box

Medium step down jump

We will have 10 to 12 jibs in the upper rail garden and a Double line of Large jumps on Tower 10 face when the snow allows. We are going to make snow for this park this week. Hopefully we get a little natural as well.

You must understand that the bigger mountains take a bit more snow to cover than a grassy hill. We have put alot of work into the small parks for the holidays and will build up the big parks ASAP. The mountain is full of mini shred items and they tie in well with the new parks. The new natural jibs have been awesome after these last few storms as well.

Johnas, dude where's the sneaky weasel at? I havn't seen any treejibs up yet. I'm down with that kind of thing. let me know.

The sneaky wease is between the top of yellow chair and the bottom of Alpine bowl chair. There is four or more trees set up in different ways.

I actually got the log ride before anybody had ridden it the other day after the storm. It's about 40 or so feet with a 10 foot drop at the end. Super sweet! We will be trying to set up more tree jibs around the mountain this year but I'm not sure if we're going to reveal locations. It's kind of cooler to have to have local knowledge.

You still building at Squaw?

That's awesome. I was up on the pow weekend (a week from yesterday) and didn't find anything in there... I was too busy hanging out Peril Ridge down through Gunner's and the low sisters and low low beav. I'll be sure to hunt them down when I'm up next, after xmas!

^sick!

Jonahs you are making Alpine interesting again- I've come to the point that I feel like I know the whole mountain, by now, but the hidden features you hint at are going to make it possible for people like myself to discover something new, to stumble upon things we've never found. Thank you!

I wish you'd just leave the jumps on kangaroo. It was nice having an isolated spot for the park instead of having it where everyone else already goes, it was like we had our own personal chair. Plus it's more convenient for park staff. What if you had all the features on alpine bowl, how would that be dragging all the jibs up there.

Only being able to hit park on Roo sucks. We felt like it wasn't even snowboarding anymore, it was parkboarding. If you only wanted to hit a small hill with park, I would go to boreal. If you want to ride a real MTN. with sick park, ride Alpine. That's the difference.

Don't worry about park staff, that's my job.

We will have the same quality jumps and jibs this year as we've always had. They just won't be found on the roo. You can still ride the roo if you wan't but you'll be surrounded by spandex.

Snowmaking for the real jumps starts tonight.

Yeah johnas, i like it. No i'm not working over at squaw this season, I'm just hanging out, helping my friend build skis and riding at alpine. It's been a pretty good start to the season over there. Looking forward to hitin some rails soon. pray for snow.

So is the only jump line we can expect going to be the 2 jumps on tower 10 face? It kinda sucks having to deal with all the bs of roundhouse for only 2 jumps. The line up of 4 jumps on roo last year was legit, anything like that goin to happen. When can we expect any real jumps?

Of course you can expect real jumps dude... Has jonahs ever let you down? Just because they aren't on kang doesn't mean they won't exist. I don't know where they'll be, but you can rest assured they'll be ther- alpine has a reputation as having the biggest and best jumps in north lake, and I don't suppose management wants that to slip their grip like the long season rep did last April.

Besides, this is shaping up to be a rad- tastic setup for awesome jibs all over the place, and you can't possibly complain about that. No way, no how.

their park blows dick until the mountain has filled out and they can put jumps and jibs everywhere they need to concentrate a few jumps together on a lappable lift. the only shit they had up was tiegel and 2 hips and a stepdown with a weak flat down. they can do way better.

There's already a big jump with a big landing ( the landing is as big as the landing for nicks used to be). Jonahs said in another thread that he's aiming to end ip with a six or seven jump line, that've says will be better than kang ever was. Give them time- when was the park at alpine ever big and beastly in December? As jonahs said, it has never been a good park until march, man. Let enough snow accumulate before you start hating. Thats like complaining about crappy coverage in September.

Alright well i have been skiing alpine for a couple of years and i have seen what they can do with their park. As of right now its fun for the first couple of times ou go but im not happy with the park. Other resorts like Sierra, Squaw, Boreal, and N* have pretty legit parks that i have heard of. They can defiantly do better with what they have. I am just asking for some more advance features, throw some rails on the mountain. And the jump is not a big size compared to what they throw up later in the season. Im just looking for some more features overall it would be nice

I am on a mission to squash all of this jibber jabber with a short edit and tour of what's setup now and what is going to happen in the future. Not gonna lie I was a little nervous too but we got to show Jonah faith.

truth. squaws park was much much more solid before xmas than alpine's was yesterday. the rails alpine have up now are sick, but the jumps are severely lacking. the one decent size jump there is built well and everything, except its in the shade almost all day. it was over 40 at the base yesterday, but the landing was still bulletproof. sort of a bummer. i vote put the jumps back at kangaroo, or at least somewhere where they are in the sun in the morning

I didn't see you up there... but yeah, it was a sick setup. The rail line has something like 8 rails to choose from.

If I remember right: {d/f/d, d,} {u/f/d, f} tall f, {f/d, d,} d

^ Rails seperated by commas, those grouped in {}'s are next to each other, so you can only hit one of them.

whoa at first i was a little shocked/bummed to read that roo would have

no jumps this year. but after readin the rest what you said feel you

are right and this sounds super legit provided the quality of the jumps

is the same. and from what i've heard the rails right now are super

fun. when can we expect a few big, solid, alpine quality jumps?

I forgot to mention, but as of Sunday, there were two jumps in the line, and one landing with no takeoff (that was used as a start hill).

This is the bottom jump, and there's plenty of room to move the takeoff back to make it bigger. The lander's about as long as Nick's used to be, so it'll be sick.

Sorry for the crap picture, but it's what I got. It makes the jump look a lot smaller, I'd give it about 15 feet lip to knuckle as of Sunday, but it's poppy enough to make it count.

jump line is dope. today there was a small stepdown to a medium sized stepup to the last booter, the last one could be a bit longer but the flow is there FSHO. nice work nohjas

Do you mean like this? Seems kinda shady doesn't it? North face is always in the shade. Kangaroo gets completely dark at about 2. It's snowmaking, it's going to be bullet proof.

Nicecomeback, jonahs. That was at roughly noon, and the shot from kang looks to be right before 1:30. I agree that all the concern is a little much, but kang did get sun in the morning. The new park won't get sun until a little later, but on the average California spring day, it'll probably soften up by the time most park skiers get out and about, anyways.

Don't worry, guys. Jonahs has it under control

The rail set up is dope right now. Although I am not so stoked on the jump line, I know its still early. I just don't like mobbing down that landing of the last jump into one of the heavier congested areas of the mountain. Not to mention the gapers playing around on the landings of the jumps. (like this guy in the last clip)

I actually like the rail line where it is better then the roo, but not the jumps.

Don't mean any disrespect this is just one guys opinion.
