Alpine Meadows Park, what are they thinking?

So I think this new idea Alpine has about putting features all over the mountain is cool. Although not having the normal Kangaroo jump line ( arguably the best jump line in Tahoe) I think is a huge mistake. Personally the new features I have seen thus for are shitty and in shitty locations.

Luckily their has been some storms and plenty of snow so park riding is not an issue yet. Although when spring rolls around, and people want to lap the park this set up is gonna suck.

The best part about Kangaroo is it has its own lift, which is also great for filming and park laps. It was bad enough when they got rid of Nicks Run a few years ago and gave it to the racers. Now kangaroo?

shits weak......and they'll close the second week of April also weak.

Anyone else agree with me on this?

Ya, the park pretty much blows. One okay jump, a few really bitch jumps, a weird rock jib, and a few boxes.

They've been waiting on more snow, dude. Check the regionals. Jonahs has been talking lots about what's going down this season in there, and I'm sure he checks regionals more often than Ski Gabber. Plus a thread would stay at the top longer... just add your concernes to one of the threads already existing, and get learned, because Jonahs (nohajs on NS) knows what's up.

check in there.^

dudes, this is what powdrcorp does to resorts, ruins them. they got my home town spot mt bachelor, and they just bought copper too

meant to add, though talking with Johnas ti sounds like they've given him a lot of freedom to do what he wants so it should be pretty dope once he gets everything in place.

Patience, kids. We have only just begun. Snowmaking for us just started three days ago. We've only been open for three weeks.

It usually takes us until mid jan-feb to get four jumps on roo and they don't get really good until late march. Really the first three jumps on roo suck early season. Steep run ins. Step downs. Short landings. We can do better.

We already have a jump with a landing as big as nicks ever was, and it's the first jump of the year. When it's all said and done, we're hoping to get a 6 or 7 jump line that will blow roo away. Plus you will get jibs in between.

This thread is funny. It's like going to a foundation of a house and complaining about how the windows aren't in yet. Give it time to take shape, then you will know what is going on.

That's what I was thinking. If you want better insight, I'm at Alpine almost everyday. Hit me up and I'll give you a tour.

Jonahs, the sneaky wease park is rad. I've got nowhere near the ability to hit the tree stalls, or that logride- drop... But I am in a photography class, and I've got a D40 with me. I need to get some shots, so this is a callout to NS: who wants to be my athlete? I will make you hike a few features a few times, and you'll get some (hopefully) rad shots of yourself out of it, if all goes well on the camera end of it. PM me... I hope I get lucky with a rider, though I know it isn't likely...

Jonah,

That is very assuring to hear. Also you have built some of the nicest jumps in Tahoe and I have no doubts in your ability. Plus there is no need for park riding now anyway, low tide and plenty of snow Alpine is a park right now.

I live at Alpine and l have heard the horror stories going around about the new ownership. That is why I've jumped the gun a little. I work for Porters and do a lot of edits and things for our site. I have a few already from Alpine this season. What do you think about meeting up and doing a tour to post on our site and perhaps even Alpines?

I think this will be a good way to promote Alpine and squash all the rumors. Plus it will give me an excuse to get paid for skiing. Maybe after " Gapers Gone Wild" because its a shit show around Tahoe this time of year.

Anyways sorry for jumping the gun and my lack of information, but we should meet up for sure so I could post some of this info on Porters, if your down

you can email me at NickyB@porterstahoe.com

hope to hear from you

PS. Powderbro, I know plenty of kids for you to shoot. I'm the ski team manager for porters and know skiers and boarders who rip. HIt me up with an email too we should also meet up.

seriously guys... if you wanna ski the park that bad then dont crowd up alpine. i personally love their new idea about features everywhere, it sounds fun...plus, apline has never really been "park oriented". although that huge jump they had closed off to the public last year was sweeeeeeeeet

plus they had a 3 jump and 3 jib mini park set up yesterday... wat more do you people want!?! haha
