Alpine Meadows Park Updates 2010

New edit I made on my birthday check it out. I would like to see things be switch up but I know your staff is super limited. Regardless things are fun nice work park crew.

fuck yeah man it looks like your idea is coming together nicely! i hated the idea earlier season when the only park stuff you had up was really like 3 jibs and tiegel which was terrible, but this makes the stash at northstar look fucking homo. good shit man.

will we see features on terrys anytime soon? the AM open slopestyle is in less than 2 weeks with the big air 1 week after... Im hoping it will snow all month and keep us outta the park til April!

Dear Jonahs,
I have been an incredibly loyal patron of Alpine Meadows for near a decade now. I have been skiing Park at Alpine Meadows since the days of the Gravity Cavity, and have always promoted Alpine within the Tahoe community and represented Alpine during my travels abroad. I have also always backed every decision you have ever made with regards to the terrain park, and I have never offered any sort of criticism of any kind. This is because the the park has never let me down, and the jumps have always been exquisite.
That being said... I am slightly concerned at the moment due to the fact that March is upon us and Alpine does not have a jump over 40 feet long. This comes as a surprise, especially since Alpine is known to set the standard for engineering massive jumps in the past. I can't express how painful it is to hear my room-mate ranting and raving about giant jumps at northstar when I don't even have enough airtime to do a 9 at the mountain I have grown to know and love.
This is in no way meant to be a diatribe, my goal is purely motivational in writing this. Let the Tahoe community see what Alpine is capable of.

^That was a well thought out letter and I'll try to give you some insight.

First, the jumps are bigger than 40'. They are step over style jumps so they don't look as big as step downs. Take a tape out there and measure. You'll find that the last two are at least 10 feet bigger. Let me also post up a picture of the park on March 2nd on roo. If you notice they are no bigger than they are now.

Don't worry, I want to build monster jumps too. We will be stacking the jumps ASAP. We always do for the spring sesh.

We've been waiting for the Safety commitee to approve our plan on terry's. It just got approved on Saturday and we hope to be building within a week.

Also, have you guys noticed it's snowing? If it snows, digging out jibs and just getting stuff rideable is the priority. New snow usually puts us at least 3-4 days behind what we'd like to be doing. If it snows, don't expect anything new for about a week. If it snows every week for a month, well you can see where I'm going with this.

I see alot of bad mouthing about the other parks as well and I don't think people realize what it takes to maintain them. Not to mention building them. We're not going to rebuild everything to watch it dump all over it again. Were going to wait for some signs of high pressure before we start, otherwise we're just wasting our time.

Just relax and ride the pow that's been falling. Build a jump and practice your tricks. Park days are coming soon.

Thanks for the beta man. It's probably pretty annoying filling us in on every little detail, but knowing where you are at in the process is comforting. I never lost faith.

Exactly what he said.^ Jonahs, you and your crew are awesome, I'm stoked for the Terry's stuff now that you've got approval.

the rebuilt jumps are pretty sweet... the first one launches you though

Scary rumor going around about alpine going to weekends only next month... awaiting denial or confirmation

Dialed in the landings last night on the jumps. Should fix the speed issues. Also made the last takeoff a little taller so it's easier to clear. Gonna try to get some pics this afternoon.

Starting to push terry's tonight.

Big air on Saturday on the last jump.

Triple Air the following weekend for the Open.

First let me just say that the jumps are scary smooth and the landings are so long that you seriously have to fuck up to overshoot. But you have to land perfect tranny on the first jump to get enough speed for the second later in the day. i was only able to get enough speed for the second before 1 o'clock today. it was mashed potatoes today, but shoot that last jump makes you go HUUUGE, but i got spooked after casing two times in a row in the early after noon. I realize that there is really nothing you can do except keep up the good work and awsome jumps.

BTW will terry's be done by thursday??

Jonas,
The new park is so fun.. The rail line is the best I have ever ridden at Alpine, and the jump line is sick. I was also having trouble with speed for the second jump, but before 12 they are perfect. Thanks Jonas and can't wait for Terry's

Nojahs: the jumps on Terrys are fun but really easy to overshoot... the second one especially

will you be building the first jump for the triple line tonight?

Does anyone have pictures of the new stuff? I'm super pissed that stuff keeps coming up to prevent me from making it up to the snow each weekend. Such is life...

Nice lil jump sesh after the pow got wet today!

Nojahs: I Like all the new jumps... that hip between scott and lakeview looks epic... will it be open to the public at all?

When will jibs be set back up and where roo ridge?

Those were really the only ones worth hitting. Anyone know distance on the last one? My best guess is 55 but I have no idea

Thanks guys! Your riders were killing it last weekend. Level 1 had an insane sesh on it yesterday. Should be some good footy coming out of Alpine this year.

^^ Come on 55'. What are you a giant? More like 70, bra. Oh, and the other jumps are fun as well. They can't all be huge.

Sorry, No. If we are not working midweek, the rails would be laying on thier sides when we come back. I know it's a bummer for the jibbers but we simply can't maintain rails right now. This late in the spring, rails are a big pain in the ass.

Yeah the jump is amazing! great work!!!

Here is one of the shots: https://newschoolers.com/web/content/pictures/id/347759/cat/latest/

Got about 18" of new snow yesterday. Park is buried again. Don't expect too much park for tommorow due to snow conditions. So shred the pow while you can.

Last jump will be closed Fri/Sat for Level 1 shoot. Didn't want to close it but the weather this week has not cooperated. Hope to have it back open for Sunday.
