I was just perusing Ally Distribution's website (www.allydistribution.com) where I found out that they have exclusive distribution rights for Teton Gravity Research, Teddybear Crisis, Level 1 Productions, and Plehouse. Seems to me a bit interesting that one distribution company is responsible for at least half of the best ski movie companies, especially considering that I'd never heard the name before about six months ago. Anyone know anything about Ally, if and how they're getting the job done, and what their interest in skiing is? I see they're based out of Portland - can't complain about that.

While I don't know this for sure, but I imagine they were wise enough to take a risk when first helping these companies out. Props to them if so. They were smart enough too to make sure they keep them.

I saw in whiteshine's bonus stuff, they were kinda upset with VAS, so they decided to go with someone else, although I never heard of anyother company

And just to clarify, there's no finger-pointing here... just wondering what's up with a company I haven't heard much about before.

ally seems to be less uptight about shit such as parental advisory and stuff. i take it they've been doing only snowboarding for a while but have no idea. it's really good to know that they are liking the ski vids though, lets the movie makers know they are doing the job right.

Ally is a serious player and has been around a long time. They are better known for their ability to sign up the best snowboard films year in and year out. I agree that this years' ski lineup is very impressive for Ally. It's really diverse, the movies couldn't be more different from one another. A good sign that the days of the cookie-cutter ski film are long behind us.

in a sports movie business where the

main distribition formally was handled by one sole company, Video Action Sports, it is a very healthy and beneficial thing to have Ally involved with ski movies. They came up in the past few years by dominating various distribution markets in wakeboarding, snowboarding, etc. by establishing great relationships with the cutting edge film companies, and in turn giving them just compensation, and good sales. now they have come to work with ski movies. props to them for creating competition in this once small market, and helping out ski movies in the process. now we just need all the ski shops out there to get on board with them, so that everybody can get the best ski videos at their local shops!
