i have some anthems arriving on monday and need binders for them. i am in nor rush except i found a sick deal on sme griffons. i also know of some people with pivots for sale. my question is which is lighter? which is more bomber? and do the griffons really squeak. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pivots (Axial)

Pros: Durable, pivoting heel piece, best toe design on market.

Cons: Heavy, Brakes are difficult to find, some shops will not mount

Griffon/Jester

Pros: Lower swing weight, lighter, no upwards release, wider platform, wraps entire toe of boot Jester is Magnesium (Lighter than Titenol, tougher also)

Cons: Toe plates squeak at first but goes away after some use, Griffon is composite.

i still cant imagine the pivots being heavy they are just a metal plate with two arms and a plastic dildo they are like see through. the px on the other hand....

they arent. nothing against you its just too many people are concerened with binding weight these days, i think in part to markers advertising about how light the jesters are makes people worry about it. The old pivots are plenty light, and unless you are concerened with ounces in difference then go for them. I would contradict myself if i turned around and said the PXs are too heavy, but i will say though in my experience they seem to have too many parts and material in them compared to a more effecient binding like a turntable or pivot heel

yeah, i also dont really understand why everyone is concerned with light bindings...as long as the difference is under a pound, maybe a little more, you wont be able to tell a real difference when they are on your feet...since they are so close to the center of the skis, they do not seriously affect swing weight, and keep in mind that besides your skis/bindings, you have very heavy boots strapped you your feet. If you cant do certain tricks because your bindings are too heavy, there is something wrong with your skiing ability.

allright time to drop prices. i can get good pivots yellow/black sick color combo for 60 or so din of 10. and silver pivots din 12 for 80. and finally griffons for 100. which would you go with and which is more bomber?

I have the griffons and I am not an expert , but i love them. They are mostly plastic, but I rode them all season and not one problem arose. great binding

this is gonna be a tough decision anyone know how many more years the axials or p12 are believed to be indemnified i wanna know if the shop will mount em in 2 or 3 years on my next pair

i have pivots and love them. however, people keep saying that the griffons are plastic. composite is not plastic, really. it is much more durable and rugged, and will withstand a lot of force. really, both bindings are nice. not the best... but very good. i would go with thatever is cheaper, since either is a good option.

Some hsops wont mount the old pivots (axial) because the heel hole pattern isnt on the new rossi / Look jig... Took me hours to mount mine the other day at work cause i had to measure EVERYTHING to get it right. but it worked out.
