i agree that people shouldn't talk too bad about mj's death and that comments like that hurt his family.but on the other side, he was famous, and to be honest, how many famous people (beside TWall) have to endure that crap from regular people like us. it's true that he is the King of Pop and i'm sure his music will last a very long time but his life had some major odds to it like a lot of people stated and i don't wanna repeat that. fact is, another famous person with a huge impact on the music scene and some social aspects died. you can make a big deal out of it and try to defend him (and waste your time), or try to talk bad about him (and waste your time).
I will just keep enjoying his music and not worrying about what he did beside music

Alright, here is some more food for thought people:
He currently holds the guiness world record for most charitable entertainer, supporting 39 different charities.
He grossed $5 million from his Victory Tour and donated it all to charity.
During his Bad World tour he invited underpriviledged children to watch the concert for free, and donated to hospitals and charities along the way.
His skin condition was real, and he wore gloves to hide it, along with wearing makeup and taking medication for that condition and Lupus, which he also suffered from. Some of the medications made his skin paler.

In addition, if you think the psychological diagnosis is wrong, consider this; his childhood was really terrible, his father would beat him for making mistakes when practising, and verbally abuse him. He would also climb into his windows at night when he left them open while wearing a mask and scare the shit out of his kids just to teach them to close the windows at night.
He started doing solo performances at age 5, toured when he was 8 and started recording when he was 11. When such a significant portion of your childhood is messed up, can you not deny that the condition of a regressed 10 year old is quite possible?
I'm not stating an opinion hear, I'm stating facts. If you care to state information that contradicts what I know then I would be happy to listen, but people are clearly not doing their homework here.
I'm not a huge MJ fan personally, I liked his music and I respect him in that sense, but when he died I decided I should probably do a little research of my own to determine my own opinion, instead of listening to what the general consensus is, which is clearly what alot of you have done.
 
this is such a complete and total load of horse shit. farah and ed died too. at least ed contributed to the well being of the world in some graspable way. your thread proves nothing except what you believe went down in the life of mj. who cares about his skin really, its his health he can do what he wants, i dont know if he touched little kids but he def ruined their lives. so for that, i have no respect. RIP ed mcmahon and farah fawcett.

Paul Newman had comparable talent, and donated many many times that much money to charity. and he died in almost as sad or "newsworthy" fashion. Yet there was much less attention paid to him, and this is because of a very simple reason. Paul Newman had a normal and benign family life. All this attention is because of Michaels sordid personal life. of course, if someone is on TV, then we have to celebrate his life.
Thats stupid. I dont agree with celebrating MJs life like he was a God. Paul Newman didnt expect it for himself, and we didnt give it to him.
and im sorry, i dont want to debate about his personal life, but you seriously cant believe he led anywhere NEAR a normal life.
 
I love MJ's music. I grew up with the shit. I can't deny that he was a bit fucked in the head, but so were many famous musicians and artists before him. Doesn't mean I didn't like the guy or what he did for music. Doesn't mean that I can't celebrate his life when he dies.

The only problem I have is that when somebody dies, the media has to be all over the controversy surrounding it, what led up to it, what's going to come of it, etc., and they thrown in a little blurb about "he was the King of Pop." That annoys me as much as I'm sure it annoys anyone else, but that's to be expected of the media. If it wasn't for the media, I probably wouldn't even know about all of Michael's problems anyways. For a lot of people, they soak that shit in, and it overshadows everything good he did.

Me, I just say "meh. Hendrix was a fucked up drug addict who garnered attention through gimmicks. makes no difference to how great he was." Same thing with MJ. his music kicks fuckin' ass and i love it and i own a 2-disc DVD set of his hits with the music videos, but i've been making jokes about him while he was alive and i see no reason why i should stop just because he's dead. if anything, this leaves room for more jokes.

i think it's cool that people were blaring his music last night. i think it's cool that people can listen to everything the media tells them about Michael, but they can still be big fans of him. i think it's cool that the OP here is telling people the truth about him. i think it's cool that i can listen to the OP, i can listen to ET, i can listen to a little kid and his mom, but that in the end the only person who i really need to listen to about Michael, is Michael.

He didn't care when i made jokes about his ever-changing nose while he was alive, and he's not gonna care now. people need to lighten up and realize that this shit affects nobody.
 
what are you talking about? dont bullshit like i knew what? my post had nothing in it claiming i knew anything...? all i did was agree with the OP. and saying that people like to talk shit regardless of what they know about something hardly qualifies as "verbally sucking his dick."

you could make up shit to fit all the reasons something did or did not happen. You have no solid facts to base your information on besides someone who "knows the real story". Had everyone thought he didnt do all that shit it would be just as easy to say he took drugs to change his skin and he touches little boys.

Unless he said it himself I'm leaving it alone. He was an amazing dancer and impacted the music industry greatly. Leave it at that.
 
I agree with you for the most part, but when paul newman died people didn't have a twisted view of who he was, and he was respected. I just wanted people to see past the shit that gets spread around, and I think I've been somewhat successful.
And I agree, he never led a life anywhere close to normal, but this thread is not saying anything along the lines of "OMG MJ IS LIKE TEH BEST EVARRR I LUV HIM SOOOO MUCHHHH". I'm just trying to give people a little information so he gets more respect from people. I'm trying to state the truth about someone who died, so people can respect him a little more. Is that not too much to ask for?
