Thread title basically says it all, anyone who had theres when they are impacted what is it like? I really don't know what to expect..

Forget what everyone says, they gas you, you wake up later in a chair not knowing what happened. They give you a list of what to eat/what not to eat, get pain meds, go home, eat ice cream, take oxy all day, and do nothing.

me and another kid here got em out this morning. went real well for me, almost no pain or swelling, bottom 2 were impacted, top 2 were normal. fuckin' starving though, eat a dank last supper.

Also some people says it hurts a LOT but it really doesn't. you just wake up in a chair high as fuck after the surgery is done.

chyea dude!! mine went super well. the worst part is the first 6 hours while its still numb and shit and you cant really eat or swallow right and the gauze in your mouth

now that i can feel my face again i can finalyl start eating some soft foods.

but i am starving though. as soon as i can eat real foods.. its gonna be glorious.

ask the doctor to tell them you are going to fucking die of pain otherwise.

or slaughter them and take the fucking drugs and run to mexico.

Old wives tale that pineapple juice reduces swelling if you drink it the night before oral surgery. I had some pineapple chunks and juice the night before I had my wisdom teeth out and I didn't get the purpley chipmunk cheeks most of my friends did.

but seriously, what the fuck are they expecting? you're getting your teeth pulled and they are only letting you have advil? What the fuck? Are they just planning on the fact that you will get addicted to your meds over the 3 days that you take them in controlled quantities or some shit?

Rarely, people die from anesthesia complications; are they going to make you stay awake for it too?

You'll feel funny when you wake up and you'll say funny things and your mouth is numb so you'll probably get pudding or whatever you decide to eat on you at first. Then you'll have puffy yellow cheeks and it'll be a bit sore, but not too bad. Just rest for a day or two (take advantage of that!) and then slowly start going about your business. I made the mistake of playing sports almost right away and then I got dry socket and was in terrible pain for like 2 weeks. You'll be fine. If you do get dry socket then TAKE CLOVE OIL! I didn't do that because I wasn't told to do that. It works almost instantaneously. If you are careful, unlike me, you will most likely NOT get dry socket.

really no point in asking about pain. it's different for everyone. I've seen people eating solid food the afternoon after they got them out...and others barely capable of opening their mouths.

i was allergic to the pain killers they gave me. All of them. So it was extraordinarily painful for several days. Add to that some other shit that happened to me at an inopportune time, and it made for possibly the worst week in my life.

Do not, and I repeat do not over gauze the bleed. It will be hell if you keep it in to long/ go to sleep with it in. damn 3 years goes by fast

ha, i thought i might go this route after the surgery i had monday. I was fine immediately afterwords and for the rest of that day, woke up on tuesday and took pain meds immediately.

1. that sucks and is very unfortunate

2. it's true, my brother had his done and he was basically unswollen the next. my friends girlfriend on the other hand still looks and feels bad after a week.

seems like it's worse for girls? all the guys i know that had it done seemed to turn out way better than the girls that did. discounting the number and condition of teeth here though.

Yeah they gave me perc after I broke my thumb and I thought it was awesome. I'd pop one as I felt the pain coming and would feel great after and go about my day. But a girl I know who had perc would pass out right after taking one.

Yah, like everyone else has said, you'll wake up feeling really weird and just completely out of it. I was actually really scared beforehand about the supposed pain afterward but it really isn't all that bad. Just take your meds and follow directions and you'll be fine.

Here's a funny pic my sister got of me when I came home. I tried walking into my house and quickly made a detour to the sidewalk/grass where I then decided to pull out my phone in an attempt to text my girlfriend. Needless to say, I was fucked up.

nah it's wives' tale.

Nik, all of mine were impacted and i'll be honest, it kind of sucked. it was never all that painful but i got really bad swelling and for some reason i don't handle pain killers well so all the pain meds they gave me made me very nauseous and drowsy. i really couldn't even walk around while on them, so that put me down and out for a few days. but they did definitely help, you need to convince your grandparents otherwise. and use the time off to watch a shit ton of movies and learn a little bit more about history of cinema, that's what i did.

Got mine out the day before yesterday (the 18th). Really hasn't been nearly as bad as I was kind of expecting. Whatever the put in the IV to make me fall asleep for the surgery was amazing. Last couple days I've just been taking Percocet every few hours and its been mostly golden. Eating stuff is a bitch though.

I neer iced my face or anything though, is that why my jaw continues to be so damn sore?

I had complications because apparently mine were a little premature? Needless to say, they were so hard to get out that they had to stretch my mouth out for than they should have. Did you know that stretch marks look like herpes? -.- I also woke up on the last tooth and was totally conscious, and that tooth was being drilled..

I really don't think this experience could have gone any worse. Needless to say, I lost a bet the day before and had to shave head. So now I look like some sort of cheek cancer herpified bald child. Definitely an all time low.

Damn... That sounds shitty. Pretty much the opposite of my experience which has been mostly good. Mine weren't really impacted. Good luck with the recovery...

I got four out (two impacted). Gas made me kinda sick but when i woke up i was pretty fucked up. The pain didn't set in for hours. I had no pain meds and the pain wasn't too bad it just sucked to chew on gauz for 6 hours cause those bitches bled for ever. I got mine out on the friday of Memorial day weekend so i was sketched out about missing parties. I did a ton of jello shots the next night because my friends mom said that was safe and the yeast in beer is what you have to stay away from. Eventually got into some patron and it all came out fine. Took a while for the holes to close. Just clean them out religiously and don't do shit. My cousin had 4 impacted and got 4 DRY SOCKETS! That sucks but clean 'em and use the syringe and you will be aight.

I had mine out a month or so ago, all 4, all impacted. Don't worry about it too much. All I took was Advil and Tylenol (I took 600mg ibuprofen and 1000mg acetaminophen every 8 hours or so, but do what the doc tells you). The pain wasn't bad,I was a little out of it for like 15 minutes after surgery, but that's it. I recommend having some of those yogurt smoothie things for the first few days, and chicken broth (make the broth taste better with some black pepper). after a week, you'll get the stitches out (unless you have dry sockets and go in after a few days, like me.) After that, all you do is irrigate the holes with the syringe they give you. MAKE SURE YOU GO BACK IF IT STILL HURTS AFTER 3/4 DAYS. Can't stress that enough, it means you have a dry socket. If you get one, they put a strip of gauze in it, soaked with clove oil. It'll numb the area.

enjoy your 4 days of opiate highs. I had my ex gf come over for a week and be my live in nurse. So i basically just ate an obscene amount of hydrocodon and had sex and watched tv and ate ice cream. Also unless u take breaks with ur pain meds you prob wont shit until a day or two after you run out. Be prepared for your asshole to rip open.
