Yeah so i just Commited to UB, heading there next fall. Anyone going there too? Im kinda looking for some feedback on how student/skiing life is like there.

if you're class of 2016 and looking for a roomie hit me up

Went there last year. Didn't go back for personal reasons.

What are you majoring in?

Skiing life isn't huge out there. Schussmeisters runs a bus to Holiday Valley and Kissing Bridge (and Swain and one other, can't remember, but HV and KB are your best bets). Season pass was $160 for freshman if you got it within the first week of them coming out.

Seemed like everyone there was from Rochester or Long Island.

There will be geese, geese shit, and Asians everywhere.

It's an awesome school academically.

Sunsets out there are gorgeous.

All the parties (frats) are on South Campus.

Everyone says that Governors sucks, but I liked the suite-style setup. Maybe it was just because all of my friends lived there.

Living on South Campus is cool because of the parties, but Pretty much every class you have will be on North. Hopefully you're in Ellicott.

I met a few NSers out there. I know Potatoes goes there, and SteezyJibber goes to Niagara which is about 25 minutes away.

Do you like kids from Long Island? Because you're going to want to get used to them..

I never went there but a few of my friends have. It's definitely not the best place to be if you're trying to ski a lot. Whenever my friends that go there come home for break they never want to go back haha... but that could be because college is a fucking bitch in general no matter where you go. I feel like the only way to have a good time at UB is if you're really into the party scene and want to join a frat or some shit otherwise it's kind of a shitty place. Anyways, good luck man! I hope I didn't make you too unstoked about UB!

All good info, thanks guys. And i'm okay with mediocre skiing, after all my hometown mtn is shithole gore.

Since its college I'm assuming the parties are decent, typical sweaty frat houses right?

I'll be going for business, and I'm handing in my request for a hall pretty soon. Right now I'm aiming for richmond, i dont know anything about it but one of my friends is rooming there too

Smaller.

West is 1000 vertical

HV is 750

KB is 550

HV is actually a decent mountain though. Amenities as nice, if not nicer than Gore. But Gore has reals skiing.

I'm at UB now!

Spend last night at RIT. Back in Saratoga now.

Really wishing I stayed. I wouldn't have minded skinning HV real quick. But one if the kids I'm with has school tomorrow and I didn't have any ski gear.

Saratoga > Oswego > RIT > UB > RIT > Oswego > Saratoga. Lots of driving this weekend.

7 Springs, PA is looking at 14-20" WTF is that shit.

I just came back from oswego too. Idk how their parties measure up to UB but i dont think ive ever been so drunk over the course of a weekend

damn straight dog.

never been to UB other than for a concert, party, ski movie premiere, and a couple other times just driving around to drop people off or pick someone up or something.

seems like a pretty good place if you are into huge schools.

i get the season pass to Holiday every year. it's not bad, but it's western NY. i'll put it this way. you'll love skiing even more when you go back home on winter breaks.

hit me up if you have any questions about the area.

sweeet, thats good because I have no idea what the city is like at all haha. Like can you go there for a night out from Ub? Any info on it is really appreciated thanks!

You have to take a bus to South Campus and then the metro from South into the city to get into downtown Buffalo/the bars. There are a few decent bars up by North Campus, but no public transportation. There are some bars on Main Street (South Campus), but most of them are super trashy. South is also where all the frats are. Most of them are about a mile walk from the bus stop.

never knew about this. is this something they do all year every year? only certain mcdonald's locations? details please. i'd love to have some of my friends ski with me on weeknights but they usually can't because it's too expensive.

I guess I should refine that to their Engineering program?

The Civil engineering program is rated higher than Clarkson, RPI, and Cornell. For that, yes, I'm serious.

I'm a senior in Civil engineering, living it up in south lake and all signed up for schussmeisters.
