Well it looks like we forgot to teach you guys how to use our new fancy picture posting!! Thats a bit of a big whoops on our part, but hey.

So Step #1 - click reply or start your own thread. This can actually be used anywhere there is one of the input boxes using the new GUI editor thinger. You will then have your input box that looks like this:

Notice the slick line of tools above your input box.... You've got (left to right):

-Bold

-Italic

-Underline

-Left Justify

-Centre Justify

-Right Justify

-Add Media (DING DING)

-Make Link

-Insert special character

-Unlink

-Undo

-Redo

-Remove formatting

At this point, click the 7th button in from the left, known as "Add Media" - now the insert flash video part of it doesn't work yet, but the picture stuff sure as hell does!

When you click on that button, its going to bring up this little popup window:

Click on that big square up on the left that says "Upload Photo" - you can skip this next step if your photo is already in the Newschoolers Photo gallery somewhere.

Clicking there will bring you up the following box (which you should be familliar with)

At this point you can continue adding pictures as long as you want. Paul is also working on a system right now to add multiple pictures in one go, which will be sweet. Your hardest mission is to make sure that you can find the picture on your hard drive, and put in a witty description. REMEMBER: If you're just posting a picture of a hat you're selling People DO NOT want to see that shit in the public gallery. Set it to private and together we can all clean up the gallery!

Once you have finished all your uploading click on the "Return To Pictures" link just beside the "Add Picture" link you've been clicking on to add your... well... pictures. ;)

This will return you to the following screen:

Now all you have to do is find the picture you've just uploaded! Or, for that matter any picture in the photo gallery. Feel like discussing a dope picture in the forums you just peeped? Click to top rated, or any other section and just click on that little thumbnail. BANGO shit is dropped right into your post.

Lets try it with the picture above... so I'm going to go into the public gallery right now by clicking on my "Add Media" button, go through all the steps until I see that public gallery...Then I'm going to click. What happenes?

Now all you've got left is formatting!

As you can see, the centre feature works quite well if you want to do some of that wild centering... but note that the image will drop into the thread re-sized to 250px wide. All you have to do is click on it, grab one of those corners and re-size it to whatever you want!

Thats it! No more fucking with annoying IMG tags, which to be honest I never could fully figure out. :) You guys just didn't see it because I can delete my own posts when I screw up.

So there you go... start to finish on the new images! Just one feature that we've added to the site and forgotten to tell you guys about. This is making me realise that we probably need to make this stuff for everything...

 
Dang thats nice. I wish i could edit all of those times i screwed up the image tags. I have to upload some photos, but i also have to do homework.
 
Once you've added it to your post, you just click the picture and it will give you like 8 or so squares around the edges... you can just grab one of the corners and drag it wider to expand the pic!

I still jsut use the old plain text entry style though.

I've never been a fan of the fancy text editor.
 
damn.. my GUI buttons don't work. when I hover the add media text appears but the button doesn't "click" I have IE6
 
But you can't click on pictures in threads to view the full sized images with the new picture posting method. Any chance that feature can be added in the near future?
 
My 'insert media' button doesn't work. When i click on it, nothing happens. If I right click, most of the options are greyed out, except save, email, and print picture, go to my pictures, Copy, add to favourites and properties.
 
Is there any way you could make it so u can take any picture off the internet instead of having to upload them to ns??

now that we all know how to do this, we should not have pictures like this in the galleries because Doug specifically said that there should be NO FOR SALE PICTURES IN THE GALLERIES. and this is one, so i figured i'd point it out
 
Yup turns out this uncovered another bug... fucking buttons don't work in IE. Jesus... we are just having no luck with this shit!

You should really just download firefox - www.getfirefox.com - in the intrim. It works in that.

IE problem is getting addressed and soon it should work for you!

 
if you have a hi-res photo that you want to post at full dimensions can you still do that? where the clickout thing will make it show up full res but not fuck up the size/width of the thread?
