I am 5'10" 165 lbs. I have a pow ski, but want an all mountain/park ski. I was think PE's in a 179, but are there any other skis i should consider.

I am about your size and I have the 174 PE's, they are nice for carving and hit jumps and such, but they are heavy and not very playful at all. Mine held up pretty good after two seasons of skiing tree's, rails, jumps and groomers beside the topsheet chipping really easily there are pretty durable. But I would look into Chronics, AR6's, MSP's, etc ...there are a lot of all mountain skis I would pick over PE's but that is just my personal opinion.

Ive rode chronics, PEs, and AR5s.........For all mountain I liked the AR5 the best and hated the PE cuz its so heavy compared to other all mountain skis.

I would go with many other choices before the pes. I have not skied the new k2s so I can't comment on those. Chronics, stls, A56s, and tms would all serve you well.

this years extremes are the exact same as last years PEs, which only differed from previous years due to the urethane sidewall underfoot, which has been having durability issues.
also look into the addict pro

My friend had public enemies for park and hated them. I rode them for a little bit, too stiff , heavy, and unresponsive. He had an incredibly hard time getting them to spin. But when he moved to a lighter ski he was super good probably due in part to the fact that he had 'weight trained' with the PE's. I also won a pair in a pipe comp and sold them on ebay for like 2 hundy something. I would definitly not want them for park or anything else. Theres plenty of other skis and brands out there. I would suggest going with a ski from companies that have been around for a while. Personally I think volkl makes the best skis especially for carving and all around terrain. The walls are technically a park ski but there stiffness and wideness make them into a more all around ski. If you like to play around all over the mountain that's what I would suggest.

The PEs would probably be a good all-mountain ski, unless you want something wider, I like my all-mountain skis to be at least 100 underfoot, I used Mad'n AK's last year and they are fun, but a little soft, maybe look into a Scott P4 or an Atomic Pimp if you want something wider.

At your height and weight they would be just fine for you. Many people who might not be strong skiers don't prefer them, but it was the number one selling ski for a reason, it does everything and it does it really well. Sean Pettit and PK skied on them and now the Extremes and they have never said anything about the ski being too stiff or heavy. It is all about preference, but as I said, at you height, weight and desire to ski all over the mountain, they would work well.

PE im my opinon are a really good ski for me. they are stiffer and heavier than some park skis but they are bomb proof, can carve and for me they have a really good swing weight. If you look at extrems they have the same dimensions but a stronger sidewall and lighter/stronger topsheet. The pes are great for some people and some people hate them. Personaly I think they are one of the most versatile twin tips on the market
