All mountain/park ski: 08 line chronic or 08 4frnt tnk?

When looking for a park ski for this year, I origionally wanted something 100% symetrical, because I loved the way the invaders handled when skiing switch. Then I rembered that the park at my local mountain is almost non-existant. So I'm looking for something that kills it in the park, as well as all around the mountain. I narrowed it down to these two skis, because they're not noodles like the invader and their sidecut is almost symetrical. So they should be awesome anywhere. I all ready have a pair of fat skis, so floatation isn't really and issue. Has anyone ridden these skis and would be willing to give me some feedback on how they handle? By the way I'm 5' 11", 150lbs and ski very aggresively.

well...i had the chronics 167 and skied them in the park agressivley for 3 seasons. pounded them pretty hard. and still do as hey are my urban ski.i have 1 cracked edge that for sure is not gonig anywhere. and i have done like....8 urbans on it.

the tnks seem like a muuuuuuuuch softer ski just from flexin them(i we have em in my shop) so i wouldnt go with those if u are an agressive skier who wants a stiffer ski.

and yes, i know that everyone says the tnks are a stiffer ski but i have skied on it last season and it felt like a noodle, however in comparrison i am riding arguable the stiffest allmountain/park twin made to date; the karma.

back to the topic, i am going to say chronic. but if i were you i would get the blend. they are wider, meaning more stability, are going to be more fun in the park, but is going to not give you the huckable status that the chronic will as you have more of a ski to move around. but you should still be able to throw 7s amd 9s no problem( as long as you could before lol)

also the blend is going to be a better allmountain tool than the chronic but they should both give you justice.

any more questions pm meeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Here are my notes on what I demoed last year. I would get the Addict.

1) Salomon Dumont[/b] – 181 cm – close to center mount:

The Dumont was a nice surprise.

The ski has a lot of pop and snap.

Skis backwards real nice and holds an edge pretty well, but can be

pushed too far. It also gives a nice

rebound out of turns and pops really well when ollieing.

Graphics: Not my thing.

Final Thoughts: Great park ski that can do quite well out of

the park. Lots of pop.

[endif]

1) Fisher Addict[/b] – 181 cm – center mount: This

is a surprisingly strong ski out of the park.

It is quite stiff and carves really well, especially for having the

center mount. I can see how kids and

light weight skiers might say it is too stiff (I assume the Habit solves

this). I loved it though.

Graphics: Top is meh, bottom is cool with the neon

green.

Final Thoughts: This is the ‘park only’ ski I would like to

carry (with the Habit too) because it can ski go out of the park.

[endif]

2) Volkl Wall[/b] – 177 cm – close to center mount:

The Wall is a fun park ski. It

skis very well switch. It almost felt

like a ‘slalom’ ski compared to other twins.

Held an edge pretty well and is relatively quick, but got a little

squirrelly at high speeds. The ski felt

light with the close to center mount.

Graphics: Kind of cool.

Final Thoughts: Good, but not quite great, park ski (better

than Dogen) that does OK out of the park.

[if !supportEmptyParas]This is not the old Karma. [endif]

3) 4Frnt TNK[/b] – 181 cm – darn close to center mount: This ski skis backwards really well. It does surprisingly well out of the park. Roll it over and it carves. There are better skis for out of the park,

but this one is pretty good for in the park.

I prefer the Addict though.

Graphics: Quite plain and nothing special

Final Thoughts: Good park ski. There are better ones out there, but this is not bad. I would rather see the Addict and/or Habit

in our shop though.

[endif]

4) Line Anthem[/b] – 177 cm – center mount: This

is the same as the Invader only wider and a little stiffer. Again, skis switch great but also carves out

of the park a little better. It will

hold an edge better and go faster.

Still not near the top in speed or edge hold of others, but not a bad

ski.

Graphics: Blue airbrush of wolves = meh.

Final Thoughts: Good medium-soft park ski that can get out

of the park if needed.

[endif]

5) Line Invader[/b] – 177 cm – center mount: This

was a soft true twin. It skis switch

really well (true twin). It butters

great, but doesn’t carve or hold an edge too well. Great for a park rat looking for a soft ski, but not my thing.

Graphics: Bright yellow with Mexican wrestlers = cool.

Final Thoughts: Good, soft, park only ski. This was the most park specific ski I skied

and also my least favorite.

i had the line chronics for 3 seasons and they finally broke when i went big on the last day of 07 season..... but they were invincible!

go for the chronics! i used the 1st gen chronics (white w/black skulls, 80mm waist) for a season and they absolutely blew my mind. they were a great all mountain / park tool, stiff but with alot of pop... they just killed it everywhere. i know own a pair of chronic wides which are 86mm in the waist and they were a great upgrade since they float better on softer snow, carve like no other ski and are still great in the park. chronics this year have an 85mm waist and have similar dimensions to the wides so i'm positive they'll be bomber skis for sure... buy yourself a pair of chronics yo, you won't be disapointed.
