Hi, im a newbie when it comes to skins...so ihave a few questions..

Do skins have to cover the width of the tips and tails, or is it enough if it covers just the middle section??

Any reviews of skins you have had? good experiences, bad? with what brands?

I just wanna buy some skins and I have no idea where to start...

gracias!

The moreover age the more grip, duh. But you don't NEED to cover every sIngle part Of the ski, how wide are you skis?

I've had no issues with black diamond skins, I hear G3 skins are nice, too. My brother got BCA skins and has had a pretty negative experience with them (bad glue, snow sticking)

I've heard negative opinions of climbing skins direct, but have no experience with them.

doesn't need to cover the whole base especially at the tips and tails. it's okay if it's pushed in a few mm's there, you won't notice a difference. i'd get black diamond skins. G3's really suck from my experience. they're cheap and tempting but in general they're much worse

There are two types of skin shapes, straight or cut. I use skins that I've cut, cutting skins is easy enough g3 skins comes with a skin cutter tool and there are numerous videos online if you don't already know how to. Alternatively you could use straight skins which you would try to match to the mid width of your ski, straight skins require no cutting, but as mentioned above they don't provide as much grip. With regards to the brand, I personally use g3 skins the adjustable tip 'arms' and the tail clip works well I rarely have problems with the tail clip flicking off. BD skins don't work so well if you have large square tips you either have to sand your tips so they are rounded or buy the larger tip loops.

Hope this helps, if you've got any more questions just pm me and if you tell us what skis you have then I can find the size you need

^^true about g3's having better attachments for twin tips but the quality of the nylon is significantly worse than black diamond. i've had lots of issues with g3 skins glopping and losing their grab on 3+ hour tours, especially the super light ones. it's a tradeoff with each company. black diamond is the best middle ground skin for the person who casually tours. if you have narrow light skis then look into col tex skins
