Alias Banning

So a little while ago I was at my friends house and I did go on ns for a little bit. My friend who had also been on ended up gettin banned from ns. So I talked to the guy who banned her and worked everything out, but he said he banned her cuz we were on the same internet coneection.

So, my question is. How can mods ban people for that reason when there is a large chance of 2 siblings having ns, or a bunch of friends staying in the same hotel or any other way.

i have 2 brothers both on ns. we have never had the problem of being banned because of the same internet connection. i dont think its much of a problem

mods and red names can see if you have alternate names....this will likely not cause you a problem( banning) if the alias are behaving them selvs (aka not karma hunting, spamming, causing havoc) there should be no grounds of banning from the mods

yea i have an alias that i use to joke around with my friends but as long as ur not rigging contests, being a total tool, or messin with karma it shouldnt be a prob

first of all it wasnt my sister, it was my friends sister and I was at their house. We were probably both on ns at the same time so he banned her and I didnt understand it. She also wasnt misbehaving or being stupid. She has just got ns and all she had done was make 2 threads about 720s vs backflips and about the movie wall-e

Aliases only stick out when they try to instigate stupid shenanigans. Mods have no reason to research an IP unless a member is causing a disturbance of sorts. If a member is making tons of useless or hateful posts with a user name that has been recently created and has very few posts, suspicions can be raised.

Bingo.

The mods have lives too and it would be absurd to think they go through just randomly scanning IP's and banning people who have similar IP's.

Something happened that raised suspicions and I suspect the whole truth has not been posted in your story. Something is missing from the story.

I have gotten the "my brother posted that" so many times that I now view the computer as the offender and if there is an issue, I ban the accounts an limit one user name to a computer and encourage the "offended" ha! to write in detail explaining the situation if they want accounts restored.

I haven't recieved a single letter yet!
