Alcohol Question

Sooo as a freshman in college, i've been experimenting with a lot of different drinks. Now this is my question for you - although i like to party, i also want to stay in shape. I don't have a particular prefferance for beer or liqour... So my question for you is - Which is techincally healthier? Seeming as a shot of vodka is much smaller than a can of beer, it seems to be the healthiest choice? Pleasssse help me out!
 
i would guess liquor is healthier, because can of beer can have 150 calories in it so do the math

150x10= 1150 calories, more than half of your daily calories! so i would go with liquor.
 
liquor. it has slightly less calories and it takes less to get to the same point that it takes with beer. But as long as you excercise and work it off you'll be fine
 
If you really care drink bacardi and shit like that because it has barely any calories at all. But beer is better in pretty much every way so quit crying and exercise after you drink
 
all alcohol is terrible for you. its proabaly onw of the worse drugs for you. it gets all in your blood and goes through each organ and fucks them all up. but as far as calories and carbs and shit its all the same 1 beer = 1 shot = 1 glass of wine = 1 mixed drink at least for the most part
 
Heres the deal. Weight loss perspective, you would want to drink straight alcohol or at least light beer. Lower the calories. However, Straight alcohol destroys your liver like no other... I mean its fucking ridiculous. Beer is also much less dangerous because it is so filling. Its wayyy easier to chug a liter of vodka than 20 beers. That said you should probably just exercise and then you wont really have to give a fuck what you drink. JEA
 
strictly calorie-wise, as people have said, it's mostly the same either way. however, there's a lot of other factors. for starters, I don't care what you tell yourself, you're not going to drink straight shots of liquor only, every time you drink. especially in college. you're going to be around people playing drinking games, almost all of which require either beer, or a sipping drink at least - beer pong, flip cup, quarters, various card games, etc. You're not going to sit there and be like 'nah i can't play, I only drink shots, for health reasons'. which brings me to my next point - when you add in the mixers, usually hard alcohol evens out, or surpasses beer in calories.

either way, the calories you DO get from alcohol fuck you over much worse than say, an equal amount of calories from some whole grain bread, a baked potato, or some other normal healthy food. afaik, your bodies normal metabolic processes get messed up by alcohol, and your normal fat burning rate goes way way down, for a long time after drinking. You'll be dehydrated for up to 2 solid days after drinking more tahn a few.

Bottom line, if you care, is eat healthy as much as possible, get exercise, and try to limit drinking to only weekends.
 
the average number of calories per shot is about 80. flavoured alcohol like malibu rum and flavoured vodka tend to have a little more than that, and a super high proof of alcohol will have more too. anyway, just be careful what you mix with if you mix, 'cause that'll ad to your calories too. but other than that, if you exercise and eat healthily otherwise, alcohol shouldn't be too much of a problem. i managed to drink pretty regularly, about every fortnight, last quarter and still lost a bunch of weight.
 
just don't eat dinner before you go out drinking. you get wayyy more trashed and it's equal to eating dinner calorie-wise.
 
Speaking calorie-wise, lite beer is better than hard alcohol. Why? Well, I don't know too many people drinking liquor straight from the bottle, at least not without a chaser. So mixed drinks and drinking chasers obviously have more empty calories and carbs from mixers like coke, sprite, etc.
 
the calories in beer as well as in liquor come from the alcohol itsself.without the alcohol beer as well as liquor wouldn't have that much calories.so it just dependes on the amount of alcohol you are drinking.

so as far as i know one big shot has the amount of one can of beer.
 
bacardi and diet coke! watch that wasteline. seriously, they advertise that shit as the ZERo ZERO drink...

but, beer isnt the route, but for gods sake drink beer, just not a ton....quickest way to put on the pounds.
 
yeah but think about it, when ever your drunk your always running around like its a marathon. you gotta burn something for that
 
that too. if your that worried about it go run like a mile itll burn off like 3 nights of drinking
 
a lot of people i know will chug hard liquor from the bottle for a couple seconds, have a tiny chaser, and already be basically drunk because they got down a bunch of shots really quick
 
i dont know about this one guys cuz i looked it up and it says lite beer has less caloires but it has a few more carbs if you wanna kee it go to calorieking.com i think i was on
 
i am a varsity athlete in university, the sport i play is tons of cardio. I also drink quite a bit. I didnt put on any weight last year, booze had no affect on me when it came to sports. My advice is this though. I drank mix drinks but mix them strong. and drink quickly. Eat before you drink, you feel like shit the next day, more so than you didnt and it will fuck with your stomach even more. Put it this way the stronger you mix or if you take shots the less work it is on your stomach, your stomack is gonna have to digest the same amount of alcohol in the end of the night anyways, so at least cut down the rest of the liquids, so i didnt drink that much beer, so less liquids that get flushed out in the end. less time runnin to the pisser too. People also forget how drinking that much mixer can fuck you up. All the sugars can give you a rough time. So its healthier for you to cut down the mix. Id go through about 2/3 of a 26er and only mix 3 cans of coke with it. People have their different views but put it this way, the less liquids you put in the less you gotta deal with the weight. Hope that helps because it worked for me well.
 
vodka doesnt have many calories in it remembering it is distilled from potatoes but it doesnt really matter alcohol adds weight regardless just drink and eat less youl be fine
 
ergh. if you are going to drink, dont worry about the carbs/calories shit like that.

drink for the hell of it, and dont try and skimp out by having some shit like "pure blonde" which, even though ive never tasted and never will, is crap. come on people...low carbohydrate beer?

i swear that if anyone in an aussie pub asked for it, the barman would laugh at you.

so yes... just drink and enjoy yourself... and worry about the after effects the next morning.

 
ya, no shit, im getting across the point that you dont have to take individual shots and individual chasers with each one. Take a big chug (a few shots total) and you wont need to drink as much chaser.
 
^haha exactly, moderation is the key. If you eat McDonalds once a month, you're not gonna gain 20 kilos. If you consume a bar of butter, you won't morph into the michellin man. Sure it isn't necessarily good for you, but drinking once a week won't kill you, neither will it put you up a few belt knotches.
 
Drink Vodka/rocks.

I'm pretty sure that the clearer the liquor the less calories/crap it has in it.

Great drink if you're trying to think about it is just putting some vodka on ice and maybe a twist of lemon/lime.

The key is to not chug it. Remember to sip very slowly, you should only be drinking 1 ounce of vodka for every beer your buddies have.

You need to get a nice little rocks glass, fill it with ice, and carry it around. You'll look really refined drinking vodka rocks.

You can mix in a bit of water if you want too, to take the edge off the straight vodka.

 
havent you seen the bicardi comercials? Rum and coke zero = zero calories. but i agree with someone from the top stop being a fag and just drink it. or do you need some vagisil?
 
DUDE YOURE IN COLLEGE you know what you do you find a whole bunch of hot ass girls get them fucking drunk as hell then just work it off in the bed dam man im not even in college and i know that
