Alcohol prices in Quebec (Tremblant specifically)

Im taking a trip to Tremblant with my school but since I'm 18 and we're crossing the border into Ontario I can't buy or claim anything at the duty-free store. I've heard that alcohol prices around the mountain are outrageous, like 35 bucks for a 24 of beer. Does anyone know if this is true and if so how I can go about getting booze for cheap?

I'm pretty opposed to sneaking shit over because the border patrol is apparently pretty thorough and I dont wanna get denied at the border or be the kid who makes the bus get caught up their forever so they can sort out some bullshit. Also what are the chances I could get some edibles over without trouble?

Dear lord I feel bad for you guys. Looks like I'm just biting the bullet for a few days, what are the liquor prices like?

Yeah that sounds about right, you can get a bottle of 94% (basically like everclear) for 25 bucks though if you're just looking to get drunk fast on a budget.

I make 9.50 and that's still a steep price for me, I guess my perception is just a little skewed because I grew up with much cheaper prices

You're american. Your prices are nothing compared to ours. We tax the bejesus out of stuff that is bad for you (we provide healthcare) and we don't allow low quality alcohol.

So sadly, you'll be able to drink at 18, but beef up your wallet because its going to cost you some bucks.

Best bet is to try to get to one of the gas stations/grocery stores in the tremblant town. Like this one:

That you can at least get a 24 for around 24-25 bucks.

Yeah I've just never been to Canada and assumed prices would be at least fairly similar. Thanks for the advice though, it's gonna be a damn good time regardless of what I'm paying for booze.

Oh, thought i was going to see something ridiculous in this thread. Pretty much the same as BC though.

Alcohol in Quebec isn't as bad as Ontario though, so it might be closer to a dollar a beer (I spent like 40 on a 36 pack last year) and you can get some pretty decent deals if you buy a 60 of liquor at the SAQ (their liquor store).

I pay 50 dollars for a crate of 24 beers at my sports club.

We even think that's a fair price considering that people pay way more at other clubs.

At Cosco in Quebec i think they sell a 24 of Corona for like 19.99. thats the cheapest i've seen but you need that membership to enter. But its cheaper in Quebec than in Ontario nonetheless.

Yeah your best bet is to try and get the bus driver to stop at the gas station as you turn off the highway. They have better selection and cheaper than right in town. There is a liquor store in the village and they are regulated so booze prices are the same as the rest of Quebec.

Worst case if he wont stop to let you buy beer, get a whole bunch of people to say you want to stop for the McDonalds, or Tim Hortons for coffee and then just grab it.

As for drinking in the bars, apres ski at the Caribou is $4.25 beers. Drinks go up significantly after 6pm. Cafe D'Epoque has the most expensive drinks at night, but thats where all the chicks want to go so just make sure to predrink.

Also please DO NOT START FIGHTS IN THE BARS! Its early season and we've already seen a ton of out of town morons causing shit. It gets old quick and the bouncers are quick to toss you on your ass at the feet of the cops. I doubt the bus driver wants to stop at the cop shop on the way home to pick your ass up.

I believe our stops are already planned out and they'll only be at the duty free store and a mall in Oswego, NY so it looks like I'll be dealing with village prices. I appreciate the bar advice though, are you a Tremblant local?

bartenders are assholes up at tremblant they expect you to tip them like 15 for a $5 shot

literally expect to hand over a $20 for every drink you get at a bar.

Also you cant bring more than a few liters of alcohol into the country..

they always only allow my parents to bring like two bottles of wine no more.

beer is like $25 for a 12 at normal non village markets.

DO NOT BRING BUD THERE>>> EVERYONE seemed to have extracts for like $10g

plus if you get caught you get lifetime ban from canada

experiences: college x breaks, vacations

plus my friend got a upm for like random nug that was in a dufflebag and had to drive home

takeaway: Go ski Jay Peak

Worth a try to see if they'll add one more. The Petro Canada is right on the road into the village and a frequent stop for tour busses for food

I am a weekend local

what the hell is a 26 of vodka? when ever I want prices my go to is a bottle of Smirnoff I just compare that price with what ever it is in that store. never buy it though it's really bad vodka.

There are ways around the membership problem though. For example, pay the 55 for a membership (has a year refund policy), go shopping, put everything in your car, and then come back in and return your membership. It's super unethical but it falls completely within costco's rules (believe me I work there)

YEA YEA, Caribou for apres, pitch on a cab to the beer store in "old tremblant" and dont cause rukus. there has already been some fucked shit happen in the village this season so just respect your surroundings, but most of all enjoy your time in the province of QUEBEC!!

tabarnak.

I did fuck that up i saw a 7 and saw it as 1.75, but yes that is what we call a fifth. 1.75 liters or 1750 ML also referred to as a 1/2 gallon. my mistake

Get ready to pay way too much for beer. Look at it this way though, you're 18 so at least you get to drink.

The last time I went to canada I brought a 30 of pbr with me. Think it cost me 16 bucks plus tax and bottle. The time before that I bought a 12 pack in canada and it cost me 19 bucks for a fucking 12 pack. People drank half it anyway. (Usually I', pretty damn generous but it's hard to be when it's so expensive. Had to go back to the store again and ended up snagging a big bottle of wine for not too terribly much.

At least maybe your tolerance isn't too high and you have a chance. I have trouble believing that alcoholism exists in canada. You'd be better off saving money and getting addicted to rock.
