The LCBO (and Beer Store) is actually the largest liquor control boards in the world.  Bet you didn't know that.
I just moved to Alberta and have travelled a tonne in the States.  The prices for booze in ONT are close to the most expensive in all of North America.  Because of the board as well, you get about 1/4 of the selection that you get anywhere else.
I buy Ontario beer and wines here in AB for 20% less than in ON.   Brutal.
Last year the LCBO paid some serious money for an external  consultant to study whether it was in the best interests of the province to break up the monopoly and get privatized (in terms of prices, government profits, product variety, etc.)  The external consultant came back and said HELLS YES, get privatized.  The LCBO ignored the findings of the report that they commissioned, and you still get beaten over the head with Molson, Labatts, and Niagara VQA vomit.
Is there any greasing going on?  Hmmm, let me think.
Support your microbrews DIRECTLY....don't buy from the Beer Store or the LCBO.  It's always cheaper & better.
