Alcohol in dorm room?

So.... I got written up for having an empty beer can in my room. It was clean and showed no trace of alcohol. Is it illegal to have a 100% clean can and still get in trouble for being underage?

probably. it shows that you were drinking. i find it hard to believe that somebody was enough of an asshole to get you in trouble for one empty can. its college...

yes. dont keep alcohol bottles/cans in your room period. just put it in a water bottle or some shit

not illegal but you're living in a dorm. rez services can make whatever rules they want and by choosing to live there you agree to abide by them.

we have multiple empty 26ers, 40s and 60s in our room as well as 2 full 24s right now and a full 26er. and we wont get in trouble for that

yay ontario

Ya pretty cold of the chick to write me up for 1 empty can. They are requiring me to take a alcohol class and pay a $100 fee. Any good ideas for a story i could tell to try and defer it?

Typical ones.

26 - 26 ounces 750 mL

24 - 24 case of beer, otherwise known as a flat

40 - 40 ounces, just over a litre I believe?

you collect empty cans around campus and have a stash of them and when you visit your cousins house in (insert state with can redemption service here) you redeem them for some extra cash.

never mind I just asked my cousin about this one and he said it didn't work. apparently he used his other cousin who lives in a state that doesn't have it and not my state, well fuck..... good luck.

beer? such a waste of fridge space, especially when in college the name of the game is to get drunk not to enjoy the taste of the natty light he was keepin in there

Usually empty alcohol containers are not allowed in dorms, so dumb though because i wanna stack all my beer cans and display my 10 dollar handles so everyone knows how much I drink!

I got kicked out of employee housing as a ski instructor at the mountain for having empty beer cans in my locked, personal room, when I was 24 years old.

Apparently they used a key to come into all of our rooms when we weren't around to look through them. I came back and they had changed the locks and moved all of my stuff to the parking lot.

The weird thing? I wasn't fired...just kicked out of the housing. Haha-- wtf?!

im actually just really lazy and they sit in the corner of my room because i dont want to deal with them

God forbid you clean up your room.... i mean i had cans laying around my room all the time but after a couple days of being around it, the 30-60 seconds to pick up beer cans isn't that bad.

I have 4 Handles of vodka, 6 empty handles, and about 10 beers in my room right now as a freshman.

Keep one handle in the freezer, the other three in your closet, all the empty bottles in your closet. And the beers in the refridgerator.

Then, when drinking, keep the door closed. Simple.

When I was in the dorms I just always poured my beers into a coffee mug, since solo cups were also considered "alcohol related" and you could get in trouble for them. After my first few bouts with the hall directory and additional alcohol edu classes I learned the tricks.

Problem solved.

yeah lol I totally dont get it. Beer here is legal from 16 on, everybody can buy it and noone gives fuck. I got like 20 bottles of real booze in my dorm and noone ever cares. In this case, I really don't regret not livin in the US :D (although, most of the other time I do ^^)

i guess all depends on the college. here at my school you could practically walk into any of the rooms in my hall and find empties all over and in the hall garbage bin and they don't give a fuck. Just don't get caught drinking it

here at penn state they couldn't do shit about "trophy" bottles and cans, but they didn't really give a shit about anything. I drank and smoked with all of the RA's in my building and one of them threw a party for us in the basement with kegs.

This. I'm an RA at Penn State. During training they told us not to worry about trophy bottles. There's enough other worries to go around. A few of my residents already have their walls covered in beer cans and handles. They'll get caught eventually so there's no sense in worrying about and empty beer can or 200.

We have all ours in those big containers, and then some bags full. I love living in a state that has a bottle deposit, if they say anything we can just tell them we were picking them up to return them

I have no idea where the can was in your room but you could always argue you were just picking up trash around your hall, trying to be a good student and it just hadn't made it into the recycling bag yet? That's a complete shot in the dark there but you never know, especially if it was realy just one can.

they probably arent going to actually get you in trouble, and if they do just point out how insignificant it is to have 1 beer can compared to what others do on campus.
