i have heard a lot about how if u drink beer during your track season it sets u back physically... is this true? anyone know? im just a lil curious.. cause after all.. my prom is during the track season

i am a rather important member of the team.. soo becuase i have heard this.. im gonna stay clean im just curious

#1 You shouldn't get drunk in the 1st place

#2 Drinking 1 time wouldn't do anything

well theres a few things. First it totally depends on who you are, some people can handle it, others can't, i know people who smoke and drink and it doesn't affect their running. Sometimes it fucks with me because of the mentality, during a race or run i would be like oh shit, is that drinking fucking me over, so it messed with me mentally. Second, i think the big reason why they say not to do that, is just because when you're drinking your prone to stay out later, affecting your rest, and you could just do something stupid and get hurt.

just start getting hammerred twice a day and be the guinea piug for us fatass fuckers that like beer and dont want to be ablo to not run from the fatty po po

Hahahaha no. Youre fine. I smoked and drank all the way through track and i got better over all... not because i boozed though

well its not good for you. the carbonation lowers you blood's ability to carry oxygen. same with pop too i guess.

are you kidding

who the fuck cares seriously too

are you trying to set a track record?

it wont affect you barely at all i have plenty of friends who went to football nationals and were everyday smokers and big alchoholics fuck school activivties

assholes kick me off cus i have a d

I stay dry during track season, but that's just because I'm really serious about pole vaulting. I don't think it would hurt to do it once or twice though.

well drinking and running dont work hun. just keep off the bottle for a while. if youre going to party, time it right. if you have a meet coming up, chill and keep sober. if you dont have one, hell, go party hard hun

my best event is 110 Hurdles i will prolly go to state qualies this year for that but i also do triple jump, and possibly the 4X400 or 4X100 relay this year

well, i've cut back on my drinking by about 95% since i started training again. but a night at the pub every once in a while doesn't seem to effect my performance.

if you're not used to drinking, just take it easy and give yourself a few days for your system to recover.

at running camp, olympians told us that everytime you get drunk it erases your last 1-2 weeks of training. for a distance runner this could result in injury, as if you increased mileage. just dont take the risk

yea man i drink. but alcohol isnt exactly good for you, especially if you are trying to be athletic. but you should be ok if your only drinking at senior prom, it wont really effect you all thta much(unless maybe you have a meet the next day)

i polevault. its the shit. i burn bowls durring track practis. soemtimes durring our runs. i still pwn most of the kids. btu thats cuz im good at shit. and one in a wile i get drunk befor my events. its kinda funny to do. so no man it wont affect u at all.

...Why would you NOT drink beer before prom? Kids these days, enjoy the shitty school dance sober haha.

Won't affect you too much, those are some pretty rough events though so you might want everything you can get... kind of up to you. Alcohol does sap a lot of my motivation, I find it much easier to work if I haven't drank in a week or so, but if you have the discipline to train just as hard no matter what it shouldn't matter.

What's the point of even going to the dances then? Alcohol is the only reason I put up with them after sophomore year haha...

a kid at a neighboring high school ran a 4 20 mile, and a 47.00 400 the night after prom. His name is evan jager. if you haven't heard of him you should look him up, he's the next pre.

haha my brother pole vaults, that stuffs crazy. hes a senior this year and last summer he went to AAU junior olympics and placed 7th. haha

he always breaks his poles. hes snapped two in half and then broke another one.

of course its not good for track....

You drink everyweek your body doesnt recover as easy.

Therefore you use less of your bodies potential.

And the odds of injury rise.

Most athletes still drink but are selective during peak season.

well your school probly has some policy about drinking while on a team, and prom is like the "lets all try to get MIPS and be retarded" night, so you got that going for you, and basically you gotta decide one or the other if you want to be good at either, don't try to walk that balance, i did and it was gay.
