Albany Saratoga YEAR ROUND Jib Center

So i was thinking about setting up a jib center so people can play year round and i'd like to get some real feed back from people. The idea is that people want to go to the mountains for just the terrain park but don't want to pay full price. So i am thinkg about opening a business to meet those needs.

There would be a variety of different rails, boxes, barrels etc to play with, all pro quality, for a fee. I'm not sure how much it would cost people but probably between 10-20 bucks for the day.

I'd like to get a feel for what features people would like to have, what would be a price people would be willing to pay and any other ideas the masses have.

It Is this something people would like, rather than have to build there own or go to the mountain? What do you think? Let me know! Would your friends come?

I would go there, but not instead of the mountian, anyone who would skip a day on the hill and hit a little rail park is nuts.

i completely agree.

There won't be the big air like on the mountain...well at least initially. But everythign else will be there and for an after school session or a mid summers session it would be prime.

if its not ski season then i definitely would want to go up there a couple times even though its a pretty long drive from where i live

I think this is a great idea, and would probably be there all the time. Where exactly do you live? The closer towards the Adirondacks you go, the more business you'll probably get. That price seems to be fair, and you could always set up some type of season pass too.

Well our location would be depend on the land cost and reference to the northway. So i think anywhere from Albany to maybe Wilton or a little north is fair game. So what features would you like?

as much as i hate to admit it i dont think something like that would work. think of how expencive it would get to run truckloads of snow from an ice rink (im guessing thats where your getting your snow) in the summer. And in the winter even a park rat would rather go to the mtn. I think it would turn into a local hill in the winter with a huge insurance bill. If it works then i would be down there every weekend in the summer

Well, i dont think we'd be getting trucks of snow during the summer. Agreed wawy too expensive and it wouldn't last at all. The in run and landing would all be astoturf make for skiing on. Its white and with just a little water works quite well. ANd as far as the winter, we'd have to see what people want to do, but im guessing some will come for a few hours after work or school. We'll see.

Actually it wont be that bad. Ive already set up a LLC for him so he can apply for insurance under that company name rather than doing it as an individual. Tax write-offs galore!

sounds cool, but it seems like thered be too many obstacles in the way of having a successful operation. idk though, i guess you could pull it off

nah not really. all we need is to know what people want. pretty simple

BUMPTY BUMP!!!!

Here's the key to success...

Offering nighttime operations during the winter.

Think about it, during the winter you have people who are all off the hill by 4-5pm. This will allow you to keep a customer base during the winter when people would otherwise not visit if they can just go to the hill.

Also, try to choose a location that will be central for both Vermont and NY population centers.

Overall, it'd be a good idea though as it'd be no different than skate parks in an environment when skiing and boarding are popular sports.

Yeah man I def. think that would be a sick idea especially if it was near Saratoga since I know a whole shitload of people that would come and it is also closer to Vermont than Albany so you might be able to draw in a few people from there... especially in the summer id be all there like every day

only issue with saratoga (and i know this since i grew up there) property prices and taxes are RIDIC!!! that would cost us more than the insurance alone.

this would be a great idea, with like after-school specials and stuff? i think it could work, whats the difference between a place like this and the shelter, or any other indoor skate park? sweet idea

you can buy that pro fencing stuff. I don't remember where the pic is on here. but there's some place like this in England, outdoors. And some kid doing a nice looking rail with a bunch of snowboarders looking on. I wish I could find the pic, if anyone knows what I'm talking about, post it up. But Astroturf isn't the best. And the "fencing" I'm talking about isn't the orange shit, it was a thicker looking blue that had it's own surface to it. Damn, I'm going to go look for the pic.

As an albany resident myself, this is a really good idea. i'd love to see this put into action, as i'd be there quite a lot during the summer, and more on winter nights. sounds sick
