Al gore gets pwned. 400 prominent scientists say hes wrong

i'm suprised no one posted this yet, so i figured i would. basically what happend is 400 prominent scientists from around the world have called out al gore and the rest of the green squad saying they are spreading wrong information, or to be more correct, they are "manipulating the data to benefit themselves"

anyway, heres some of the scientists, and exerps of what they have stated, this first one is directed basically right at Gore. the link is at the bottom!

USA: Climatologist Robert Durrenberger, past president of the American Association of State Climatologists, and one of the climatologists who gathered at Woods Hole to review the National Climate Program Plan in July, 1979: "Al Gore brought me back to the battle and prompted me to do renewed research in the field of climatology. And because of all the misinformation that Gore and his army have been spreading about climate change I have decided that ‘real' climatologists should try to help the public understand the nature of the problem."

Belgium: Climate scientist Luc Debontridder of the Belgium Weather Institute's Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) co-authored a study in August 2007 which dismissed a decisive role of CO2 in global warming: "CO2 is not the big bogeyman of climate change and global warming. "Not CO2, but water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas. It is responsible for at least 75 % of the greenhouse effect. This is a simple scientific fact, but Al Gore's movie has hyped CO2 so much that nobody seems to take note of it."

Russia: Russian scientist Dr. Oleg Sorochtin of the Institute of Oceanology at the Russian Academy of Sciences has authored more than 300 studies, nine books, and a 2006 paper titled "The Evolution and the Prediction of Global Climate Changes on Earth." "Even if the concentration of ‘greenhouse gases' double man would not perceive the temperature impact," Sorochtin wrote.

anyway, theres more, but gore just got his asshole widend about 4 inches.

come on guys i don't think he was super serial about the stuff the prominent scientists say he's wrong on. im also sure there's at least 400 other prominent scientists (for one reason or another...(:O===8)) that would agree with him

define prominent.

and still 400 will give you a fraction of a percent of the climatologists out there that educated enough to form an opinion on this matter.

Fuck with a few billion euros (or dollars) I could find 400 doctors that would say that smoking is good for your health.

what the fuck kind of point is that? ur saying someone shelled out a few billion euros for that article? al gores a dumbass. the 'prominent' doctors that agree with gore are just a bunch of looney liberals

ah yes, the looney liberal agenda.

dont you hate it, cos you just know theyre going to make untold billions of dollars by stopping us burning everything in sight and pumping shit into the air.

or could it be that youre being manipulated.

its people like you (probably fairly bright but determined to bury your head in the sand) that ensure the political will required to make changes too how we treat this planlet probably wont come till its too late. may your grandchildren forgive you.

read the article and you will know what prominent means. each scientist is either head of an orginization about climate change or they are a teacher at a university or something. but it can go either way, however, gore fails to prove a looooot of things in his video, and just uses scare tactics on the public.

Please give me your full legal name and ssn so I can come beat some fucking sense into you 20 years down the road when there will be no glaciers in glacier national park and there is no ski season.

yea.. we'll see about htat 20 years from now. That whole global warming thing is definitly not as big as theyre trying to make it seem to a certain extent you could even say its a "hoax" .. anyways, since you seem to be pretty well-informed on the subject, I was wondering if you could name me a few concrete cold hard facts to support it

why does it even matter? regardless of Al Gore, and anything he's ever said, it's the responsible and morally right thing to do to take care of the environment and try to be conscientious world citizens.

well said cuz.

thats the tragidy of politics right now. everything has been reduced to right v left, who's right or wrong.

IS IT SUCH A LEAP OF RATIONAL REASON THAT MAYBE WE JUST SHOULDNT COMPLETELY FUCK UP OUR PLANET JUST IN CASE WE'RE DOING IT CATASTROPHIC IRREVICABLE DAMAGE.

IS IT REALLY BETTER TO JUST ASSUME THE BEST AND KEEP GOING AS WE ARE.

IS THERE ANY GOOD EXAMPLE IN RECENT HUMAN HISTORY WHERE WE HAVE ASSUMED WE WERNT DOING DAMAGE BY DOING SOMETHING, SOMETHING WHICH NOW, WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT, TURNED OUT TO BE ABSURDLY DESTRUCTIVE.

The new report issued by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee's office of the GOP Ranking Member details the views of the scientists, the overwhelming majority of whom spoke out in 2007.

what a stunner, republicans colating a report to oppose al gore.

idk Al gore is dumb in a way but the idea isn't a bad one he is trying to get across of course he is a total hypocrit but yah know

If any of you take anything away from this thread, realise that water vapour IS responsible for 75% of the greenhouse effect.

I dont care if Gore is wrong, time of debate is over and its time to do something about our environment. I hate it when people spend more time trying to prove that global warming is a myth then thinking of a solution to slow it down.

As been said once before, effects of global warming is not felt between the poles, but it is already showing in the north and south pole.

hahaha, exactly, If it could be brought to my attention that Al Gore has the patent on some sort of clean burning, renewable energy I might believe that he has some kind of secret "agenda".

Is it so hard for republicans to accept that not everybody is like them? Is it so hard to believe that somebody is actually looking out for the good of mankind and trying to save us from our own idiotic selves? Is it so hard to believe that some people are working towards a cleaner, brighter future for all of humanity?

Please, inform me what Mr. Gore has to gain from slowing down global warming other than the obvious slowing down of global warming.

scare tactics huh?

you mean like the ones our republican friends used to lead us into this war?

i think burning a little less, and conserving, is a little better than going into an unnessecary war, and getting americans killed, don't you?

okay first of all u just compared two wayyyyyyyyyy different things

number 1- al gore and the democrats have packed so much bullshit in the issue of global warming they are just scaring the public and building their liberal conspiracy into an empire to get money from companies and from the government

numero dos- as for the republicans leading us into war it didnt matter whether a person was democrat republican or a libertarian everyone wanted to go into war (except obama i guess) and all of america was gung-ho about it not realizing that it was going to take a lot longer than a one night stand president bush's approval rating was thru the roof now that the war has been going on for a while everybody turned on him and the republicans and totally went back on what they first thought about the war and now its the "cool thing to do" and go against someone or something u first supported

so dont go comparing two totally different things bud

have a good day

Fucking christ. Am I the only person just generally pissed off from the fact that both sides have managed to turn global warming into a liberal/conservative argument?

As for the article itself, fuck it. Gore is wrong because he is 100% convinced we are the main catalyst for climate change, and these 400 'prominent' scientists are also assfaces because they are 100% convinced we're not. The truth is, we have no idea what the fuck we are doing to the environment. However, just because we dont understand it doesnt give us free license to go around trying to defeat Captain Planet. I'd rather leave a small footprint on the world rather than a large one.

don't say "we" dont know, "we" have no clue. How can you say "truth is, we have no idea ..." . Those scientist spend every day of their lives working on the issue and you're telling me they are completely clueless ? come on man

Whats wrong with scaring people into doing the right thing here? Wouldn't a proactive solution be a fuck load safer to implement then a reactive one?

I dunno how ANYONE in the right state of mind can honestly say humans have no substantial links to global warming.

As a biologist, I can truthfully say that we know more about galaxies 50000 light years away than our own bodies in terms of the way things work. Welcome to science.

Never did I say climatologists are clueless. We have an idea of what goes into the broth that makes the world have a climate. Extending the analogy, we have no idea how long it needs to cook, what temperature, or what seasonings and minor ingredients it has past chicken stock and potatoes. Adding a little salt and pepper can completely change the taste of the dish. But its not as simple as a soup in reality, its global climate, with thousands of interlaced factors, many of which we have yet to discover, let alone understand the effects of. Greenhouse gasses are a part of that, yes, but their effects are hard to understand due to all these other factors. So yes, we really do have no idea how our global climate works.

Oh please, who are you to define what is right and what is wrong? If you give people that much leeway on everything, you'll be torn a new asshole in life my friend.

Why should Bush of told the truth about Iraq, if he thought it was "right" and it was all for the safety of the population?

What you're saying equals to giving up our better judgement and common sense to trust some people we dont even know and who have agendas of their own. (Note when I say this, no one confuse it with liberal-agendas or conspiracies. Not what I mean.)

Honnesty, I would like nothing more than to have Al Gore exposed as the vacuous piece of shit he really is.

He didnt expose any problems with his movie, he fabricated lies to a mass audience.

I agree with some of what people said; what's the harm if it get's us to cut back on polluting? The harm is that this whole travesty has become such a hot topic that everyone has lost sight about issues that we actualy have control over and that will cause more harm to our planet; such as deforestation and desertification.

Then there's the problem of the elitist douchebags who are too busy sucking of Gore to listen to anyone else's opinion...but that's another story.

although i think al gore is a total joke, that doesn't mean he is completely wrong. i am not sure about this whole global warming thing but we do need to take care of the environment regardless.

Hey buddy, don't twist my words next time you think to quote me. Makes you look inept when I catch it seeing as I never said give everyone the right to do what they think is right.

The right thing to do here, regardless of your political, religious, or whatever views is to protect the fucking planet we live on. This doesnt mean let hitler kill jews because he thinks its right, it means protecting the natural environment that we are raping in the name of 'progress'. For the last 200 years, we seem to have forgotten about the natural environment we are building on in the name of 'development'. What happens when we cant breathe the air, or grow food because all the good soil is paved over?

You're right...fuck the environment...who needs it right? We can make space suits to breathe shitty air and we can eat our money...Its so easy...why didn't i think of that... /sarcasm

Yes, I can, would you rather millions of the countries tax dollars spent on an environmental "crisis" that may not exist and even if it does it will take generations to take effect. Or would the money be better spent stopping genocides in africa, or teaching the value of contraceptives in 3rd world countriess where the population is out of controll, I would rather have my tax money go to halping people dieing now as opposed to the people that will not die from global warming.

you have too be kidding. you honestly think that if we stopped spending the pitiful amount we currently invest in climate change research and development, that it would go to aids and africa.

how old are you, 12. take off the rose coloured glasses and realise that the people who run your world have mainly have masters degrees in cronyism and self interest. that goes for the left and right. the only reason we are spending any money on climate change is that what remains a tragic minority of people are finally demanding it.

if heard some increadibly poor arguments insisting we put our fingers in our ears on climate change, but to suggest that the US government or any other will all of a sudden actually start to give a shit about aids and africa if global warming was forgotten is laughable.

if they wanted to help, they would, but africa has no oil and you cant drill it out of surviving aids patients either.

Because the three trillion dollars the western world has spent in Africa has done so much good...right. Fact of the matter is, gore is absolutely an alarmist, but so what, he didn't hurt anyone in the process. You can choose to agree with him or not, thats all fine, but if you think climate change is not an issue then you are living in a hole. Now, what role the government plays in regulating carbon emissions and what not, thats a different topic.

Ahahah get off your fucking high horse. To say I look inept for quoting you inaccurately and then saying I dont give a shit about what's going on with the environment proves at least one of 3 things:

1) You're a hypocrite

2)You cant read

3) You are just plain stupid

So what you're saying then, if I understand, is that people should be allowed to lie to us, as long as you agree with them?

ha ha they released an article after he released his movie.....it showed that he used like 25 times the amount of energy than the average person. And in his film a lot of the time he was driving around in his SUV....make sense? anyways its good that he has definitely raised more awareness of global warming

They have no resources because of rich eruopean nations that stole them all when they colonized Africa. Then because the people had borders drawn around them they didnt want it only led to fighting between ethnic groups. So the euros took what they could and got the hell out before all the fighting made their country look bad. So I believe that we shouldnt just give them money because all that is doing is funding corrupted governments fighting, but instead pay smart polititians to get the governments stable.

But this is all besides the point and has nothing to do with the thread, I still am not sure where I stand on global warming, I think both sides have biaseds and money to be made from their point of veiw, also I dont think temperature data is too reliable from 100 yrs ago, so I will help the cause untill disproven but wont but all my time and money in it either untill I am completely convinced.

Al Gore is wrong in alot of ways. I'm not going to say that humans arent contributing to global warming, but in total, the humans effect on the world is 10% of everything that is happening riught now, the other 90% is all natural. If you draw a line across a chalkboard in a classroom, then put a mark on the line, thats how long we have been on earth. what is happening with climate change has happened 6 times in the past, humans just werent here to experience it.

NOW, Im not saying that Al Gore is wrong, or that hybrids and solar panels wont help, but we arent nearly the whole problem, its nothing humans can take care of.

... My mom works for the Department of Environmental Conservation

does that mean if we invent hydrogen powered vehicles, wont there be more water vapour in the atmosphere because theres a lot more H2?

You quoted me out of context to make me look stupid...of course I'm going to call you out on that just as you would have done the same to me if I did it to you.

I'm not saying people should lie to others, but en masse, the population of this planet is vastly uneducated on anything outside there boarders. Unless it directly effects us, we just talk the talk and ignore the follow through 'walking the walk'. Unfortunately, the environment isnt priority number one. We live in a world dictated by 4-5 year government terms so we are forced to think short term. This isnt something you can fix short term. People need their asses kicked NOW unless they wanna end up in a space suit sounding like darth vader when then are 80... To claim the environmental 'crisis' is not a major issue proves ones stupidity and sheer biased view on life. I know the business world isn't geared towards holestic thinking in terms of this planet, its gearded toward profit and succes at any cost. One would have to be completely blind to not see the long term effects of a business model like this...

Now I agree 100%, however why should we be lied to and be fed so much wrong information. Al Gore charges 6000 dollars PER MINUTE to speak about global warming. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about the issue, hes just getting fame and fortune.

Also, how are developing countries around the world supposed to afford prius's and solar panels?

Be realistic, Sure people should stop polluting the earth (look at city smog, that should be enough to fight pollution), but we only look at the issue from our little "world power" bubble. We must see the damage that would occur to 3rd world countries if they only could use green power. Its too expensive at this point.

I love how everyone thinks our culture is the norm that everyone else's should be based on...

It's true. Take meteorology 101, its like the first thing they tell you. It's not that they are all stupid or have no idea, or have some sort of bias, its just that the whole thing is so damned complicated, that in many parts of the world, trying to plan a 7 day forecast is completely meaningless, much less trying to figure out whats going to happen to the WHOLE WORLD for the next few hundred years.

the problem with al gore is that his scare tactics can lead to uneeded risks in our already fragile economy in order to take drastic measures to fix a problem that doesn't need to be... that is doesnt need drastic changes to fix.
