Do you kids know of good places to buy airplane tickets? I want to go to panama city and/or mexico city from the US (Salt Lake City).. I'd go in Aug, so buying them now would be fairly in advance...

I've tried expedia, and travelocity.. so I was just wondering if anyone knew of other places to look...

 
lots of times the airlines will have sales on specific days you shood check with the airlines and see when their deals go on, by them then, also if u live in canada u might be able to get enough airmiles and go for free

alot of the time its actually cheaper to go directly through the airlines page. the other sites like Orbitz and Cheapflights and stuff all add on a little service fee. so do the comparisons, cause sometimes theyre cheaper and sometimes not.

also fly suntrips. you might DIE, but if you dont, you saved some cash. and i think they still serve peanuts!

If you can go any time, keep an eye online cause if they have cancellations a day before, they'll sell tickets real cheap.

 
yea, if you buy direct from airlines, you tend to get better fares than orbitz, or travelocity. they make their money on conveinence. so figure out where you want to go, then find out what airlines fly there.

if you use expedia or travelocity or orbits, check the prices during the middle of the night. thats usually when their the cheapest.

how about a jib for the mentally unstable aswell. maybe a picture of a kid with down syndrome on a box - anathema
 
Airline tickets are cheapest between midnight and 2 am on Wednesday morning (as in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning). The pricing wars peak around this time, so that's when you'll want to get them.

Don't go through a travel site. They're not going to give you the best deal. They're like ticketmaster and charge a conveniency fee. The thing I always do is use a travel site when I want to buy the tickets and then go call the airline. They'll give you the best deal.

ok the online sites liek travelocity and stuff actuall do offer cheaper prices than the actual airlines in my experience (for my trip to the dominican it was over $100 cheaper on travelocity) but it is also a good to check with the airline too. use yahoo to search for the cheapest rate because it will search all the online places and give you the best price out of them and then compare that with the deal going directly through the airline.

i would try a travel agency such as STA travel, or something like that. I think its STAtravel.com

if you are a student or something like that its alot cheaper. If you aren't a student, i don't know if you can use it or not.

 
^ You don't have to be a student to use STA. You just have to be under 25 I think.
