Well not really my skis but my dads skis. He just got back from visiting my brother out in coloroado and on his flight back to boston his skis got fucked. His bindings are bent and all banged up. Can the airline be held accountable for this!! Thanks for the info

My advice put in a claims to the airline...may take a while to sort out depending on the type of customer service...but you should be able to receive some sort of compensation.

my family just got a hardcase and we flew out to utah with it and it had a gash in it and humongo dents which screwed the edges on my dads new bros

yeah he just came back tonite and he is calling the airline tomorrow but i didnt know if it was like a laundry mat "not responsibly for anything we do"

dude my bros ski bag didn't arrive and was delivered a few days later...

he swears that when he opened the bag his skis had a new chip in the top sheet and that the bindings were moved forward a size!

i highly doubt the airlines can be held accountable. they have you sign a waiver when you're checking skis that says (in the words of the ticket counter guy in portland, ME) "basically if we lose your skis or they get broken, you know, it like, wasn't our bad".

what'd your dad have them in? a padded ski case is definitely the way to go

You definitely should be able to get some sort of compensation. One of my buddies had the shafts of some of his golf clubs broken when he flew one time. But I can't remember if you have to make the claim before you leave the airport or not, because they could easily say that you damaged them after you left the airport if it has been a few days.

you may get compensation but dont get aggressive with the airline until you really need to to push things forward. the more aggressive you are to them the more likely they will say fuck off its not our responsibility

airline is held accountable. if they funk up your stuff or loose it you make a claim (as soon as possible), and it might take some time to get compensated, but will happen. my friend last year checked his acoustic guitar and the airline lost it. he made a claim, they gave him a big fat check, badaboom badabing went out and got a nice taylor.

happened to me with brand new chronics and the took them apart so they rattled around and fucked the topshetts completely and they will do nothing about it.

fill up your ski bag with socks and boxers and hoodies and stuff next time. and as for your skis, i dont know man. i guess the best thing would be for your dad to call the airline.

yea, you can get money from them. they can't damage your shit and get away with it. I have seen those loading poeple bang bags and shit around loading and unloading. it's their fault.

the airline raped my poles and binders once and they gave me money to replace them. i got a representative who was a skier so i lucked out and he gave me enough to get new shit. it was sick

wtf?! they fucked up someone elses property, of course they have to deal with the consecuenses (sp?). whats wrong with people these days?!

If they want you and your friends/family to choose them when they fly again they will give you a compensation for the damage. glad I live in a non-retarded country, it would never be a problem here.

this happened to my friend earlier this year, most airlines dont guarantee anything that is in a soft bag and in theory dont have to do anything because you sign off on it with your ticket purchase. However generally they will work with you to some sort of compromise because they want you to be a happy customer who says great things about ________airlines. In my friends case they agreed to pay for any repairs that could be made (the skis were beyond repair so the ski shop wrote up a repair slip for a pretty decent ammount so he could put it towards new skis). Then he took his airline money to moment and they hooked him up with some cheap skis. (the airline also paid for the rental skis he had to get in whistler).

So just contact the airline basically.

most companies maintain the stance that they are not responsible and you cant sue them, but are fairly reasonable if you talk to them nicely about it. i would say your dad has a good shot at them paying to replace or repair the skis.

dont you usually have to sign for stuff like skis and golf clubs, saying that if anything happens you cant do anything

when i went on a trip to CO with my friend, he had a soft case and the airlines made him sign a waiver, that basically said if they damaged his gear, they were not responsible, and basically SOL. I had my hard case and didn't have to sign anything, so if my skis had been snapped in half i could have gotten new skis out of it.

thanks for the advice, he did put in a claim before he left the airport, and it was a soft bag almost bursting the zipper because it was stuffed with clothes to wrap them. It basiclly looked like someone took a sledge hammer to the heel piece of both skis while the were on there side. it had to be something hitting them hard. They airline said they will get back to him....
