Airline broke my skis

what exactly do i do to make this better? i just checked my skis today and they were broken in half by the airline
 
haha the song is brilliant, but I'm really worried about this happening to me, I'm probably going to windells this summer and I'd be soooo fucking pissed if the airline broke my Jeronimos.

yo yo yo yo, airlines are liable for damages and lost items for sure, you pay them to transport your shit... Im pretty sure some airlines will reinburse up to $5000 of lost or damaged merchandise so Id call them ASAP.
 
that sucks man...Just think about it even if they pay for the damage It is still a huge inconvenience to you... now your stuck with broken skis,and won't have a new pair for maybe two weeks since you will have to find a new pair,get bindings mounted,etc

I hope you get some compensation If not that's just stupid
 
they'll probably give him like $300 and call it

it's like usps, when they ACTUALLY respond to a claim it tends to be the most half assed compensation ever thought of
 
yea on my way to ireland with my surfboard (in a padded bag) snapped the nose complety off and didnt do shit. and they ruined my surf trip. ik its not skiing but still they suck.
 
Airlines are fucking bullshit. It amazes me a couple guys throwing skis around and shit ontop of them can do more damage than hucking 40 foot cliffs and hitting thousands of rails.
 
airline should replace them. though most airlines have a maximum claim fee of 500 for any bag.

which is hilarious because when i fly with a dub ski bag i definitely have well over a grand worth of gear in there. and thats actual worth, not to mention the fact that my skis arent really replaceable since they arent made anymore.
 
fedex gave me 1200 for sth16's and urban punx beat to shit

i think the claims rep got confused though i bought pow and a park ski at the same time either way fuck them i got screwed on my park skis when i went back home they lost them. And with fedex the driver pays for it apparently.
 
no they're really not unless they have a policy stating that. it seems like every year airlines are taking less and less responsibility for your belongings
 
very true. i always wrap my skis with mad clothes to make sure they don't break because airlines just throw them around. you should definitely call and complain. maybe they will replace with. i mean they definitely should
 
Oh shoot I didnt really give this a huge thought! Sorry to hear that looks like I gotta make sure my skis make it to Oregon...

But if you give them a call they'll prolly do something about it
 
good luck. TSA opened by bag, didn't close it right and a bunch of new golf clubs were snapped. However, because it wasn't a "hard case" the airlines weren't responsible and TSA pretty much told me to fuck off Nat'l security bla bla. It's worth a shot to file claims, but the paper work and wait time sucks
 
What sort of insurance policies do you have? If you have travel insurance that should cover it. Did you buy it with a credit card? Some credit card schemes have either protection for items that were bought on the card and then broken. Other credit cards give you travel insurance (mine does) which should cover it. Alternatively, do you (or your parents) have home contents insurance? If you do it might cover the breakage.
Otherwise, write a song or make a ski edit about the airline breaking your shit!

you might have home owners insurance that covers this? call your insurance company

file a complaint with the airport you came from and the airport you arrived at (if possible)

call the airliner and file a complaint with them

just pester everyone till you get money...or die trying
