Air Fryers been slept on

My cousin just graciously donated me an air fryer and I've got to say I have been sleeping on this cooking appliance since I first heard of it. I am wondering who else uses one and what are your favorite things to cook in it?

I swear these things are just miniture ovens though. Theyre just a convection oven. I have one but I always just use the oven instead cuz you can fit more in it

you're correct on that. The oven in my apartment is ancient and super inefficient - leaking most of the heat into a small apartment acting as a heater in the already 90 degree weather... mostly used the oven for storage and hardly use it. I just like how fast the air fryer heats up comparatively

Apparently you can get these silicone inserts for them that r super easy go clean. Maybe that would be helpful.

I once cooked shake n bake chicken in one, it was good

It takes so long for the oven to heat up though. My boyfriend has a convection oven and it takes like 5-10mins to heat up, and then still an extra 3-7ish minutes for cooking time. Idk, maybe his oven just sucks. On a scale of microwave to oven, the air fryer is closer to microwave in terms of convenience and closer to oven for crispiness/quality. So for me, best of both worlds haha

The frozen chicken strips turn out way better in the air fryer than the regular oven

No idea why... science?

It's because the air gets heated in a way where it rotates around your food giving you a more even cook that an oven can't accomplish

But I also just made that up so idk

Air fryers are sick but also are just convection ovens

yeah but air fryers are cheap and have a good form factor/made to be easy to use and clean for moms and tards like me

My fiancé has the Ferrari equivalent of an air fryer the thing is the size of a small African nation and sounds like a god damn spaceship when she fires it up but she makes awesome salsa chicken breasts, brussels sprouts with parmesan, I cant remember what else off the top of my head but air fryers are dope.

I'm sure you know already but all the classic freezer foods in there are great. Pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, etc etc

Wait you talking cooking raw wings, or just reheating leftovers? I make wings all the time and am deff looking for some more/easier ways to cook them

Incredibly beast that it can cook a frozen chicken breast in 15~ minutes and not taste like wet dog and actually has good texture

Chicken legs are GOAT'ed in an air fryer. My air fryer and carbon steel pans get a workout almost on the daily.

The one we have at work is like the size of a Keurig. You can put like a sandwich or a slice of pizza in it which is really nice for quickly heating up food. We got a bigger one at home which is like basically a mini oven it’s like the size of a large microwave but you can bake, broil roast all that shit it’s really nice

literally just took a frozen breast out of the freezer, covered it in olive oil and beer can chicken seasoning, fried it for 9 minutes, then flipped and went for another 5, then flipped again for 3 and it was great, threw it on a bed of slap ya mama seasoned rice, threw a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of the chicken while it was hot so it melted, and had some pop chips on the side. All made within 20 minutes and it was damn good

I put Mac and cheese in my air fryer and nearly caught my dorm room on fire and got fined like the third week of school

They literally fall off the bone they’re soooo tender. I’m all for crispy wings but the air fryer wings are still super good

air fryers have never been slept on. its literally the first thing i hear everytime the topic of """cooking""" is brought up during the blunt rotation

Leftovers in the air fryer is a game changer... microwave would make it way too soggy, but air fryer gives it that crispy refresh.

But the best thing you can do with an air fryer is NACHOS.

Tonight's meal, two raw breasts in the air fryer. lil pepper jack cheese melt on the top, damn that was a goated dinner

They are. I rarely use it unless I don't wanna clean a pan. Mine heat up at similar rates. The exception is chicken wings are amazing. You can cook them in a way that creates the perfect texture. Very similar texture and juiciness to smoking wings, just without the smoke flavor. Highly recommend trying.

Love my air fryer but honestly the best kitchen too I have ever purchased is a Sous Vide circulator. You'll never want to have chicken breast any other way. 145 for an hour and a half then throw in a hot ass cast iron for some mailard reaction and BAM.

5-10 min pre heat and 3-7 cook time is outrageous. Takes mine a good 20 to pre heat
