Ok guys i need a pow/backcountry freestyle ski for this upcoming season. here are my stats:

My Stats:

- 16 years old

- 155 Pounds

- 5'10ish

- 316 BSL

- Skier Type III+

Ski Requirements:

- 178-185 cm length

- 95-105 waist

- Preferably no rocker but doesnt really matter

- On a scale of flex with 1 being a noodle and 10 a 2x4 i want about a 4 or 5.

- I will be most likely be mounting with Pivots about 2cm back from dead center.

- Under $350

Ok so here is the deal. i want a ski that will perform well pretty much every where but i'll be really only using it in the BC and in the pow. I ski pow quite often being in Southern CO so... I want something comparable/similar to the Seth Pistols of 04-05 or the K2 Seth Viscious' of 05-06. I cant find anybody with Seths for less than 350, and nobody is selling right now. Im looking for another ski COMPARABLE to the Seths, that fulfills my requirements. throw me some options here guys. what other skis would you guys recommend to me?

pm me if somebody has something similar to what i want. and if there is something i left unanswered, let me know so i can give the information.

oh yeah and it DOES NOT have to be new this year by any means, but no older than 04-05. And for anybody that has anything similar to what im looking for, or Seths for that matter, they have to be in good condition. no more than two mounts, but preferably no more than 1. no cracked edges, no sidewall damage, not too messed up bases/topsheet. ive already got rock skis that i could ski on for crappy coverage, so i want a ski in decently good condish. thanks

could be but i dont know if it would be too big. Armada generally runs pretty big in terms of sizes and i think that 185 ARV's would be a little much and 175's would be small.

based off your description 185s should be fine...

and armadas dont run big..i dont know where you came up with that, but theyre measured in centimeters.

i just know that Armada 185's are a good 5 cm's taller than Rossi 185's. im not sure how either of the companies really measure their skis though.

the only problem i could forsee with the ARV's is that they would be too cumbersome to throw around in the trees and whatnot.

and to the kid who said 179 prophet 100's... i had been looking at those too, but ive tried out prophets and they are pretty stiff for my liking. gotta give those a thought though.

ok man talk to BenJAMIN4aWhil3 i think his name is. hes got some live lifes. that would be perfect for you like 183 i think and soft tips and tails but sturdy mids for charging. soooo fun sounding. cheap too.

rossi S5 for next year, i think it was teh brigade this year?
185 ARVS would be good though, and it's k2 that measures long

0708 or 0607 Armada JP vs. Julien.

This sounds like the ski for you man.

104 waist, so it's at the top end of your waist size, which means more float and these things are as light as anything.

I would also maybe recommend going up to the 188 at your size. you may grow antoher 2inches and then you will definitely want the 188, they run out at 186 i think. The 178 will feel short already especially if your mounting close to center.

It's really nice and soft for boots and the tail with the extra rise works well for switch.

I'll have a look around and see what price I can find it for.

aight thanks for the hookup on benjamin4wil3 or whatever his name is... mad karma. i'll see if i could work something out with that, live lifes would be pretty damn near perfect to what i want so thats sick. if that doesnt work out than JP's are another good option that i never thought of so thanks for that. we'll see how this works out, but if any of you guys comes up with something else let me know... thanks

aight the jj's sound really good, but im really stuck between sizes. the only available size i could find is obviously 188, but im afraid that 188 would be too big. i normally ski my anthems (every day park/whatever ski) in a center mounted 178 and thats a good size. i would only want a few centimeters bigger because i would be mounting back a little and the ski i would get would be significantly fatter so the ski would feel all around bigger, and im afraid i wont be able to maneuver 188 JJ's how i would like too. 178 JJ's would probably work out though, but im basically stuck between the two.

i might be able to get Surface Live Lifes as well.... whats that ski like? ive searchbarred and apparently it is a pretty stiff ski. everybody says it superrrrr fun but stiff. and its 112 underfoot which may be a little big but i dont know. anybody know about this ski? any first hand experience with it?

The 188 JJ will honestly be absolutely fine for you man. I know it seems like a lot of ski, but it is for the BC, and booters and such.

It really is such a light ski, apart from the new moments their is not a lot lighter than a JJ

You are 510 and will probably grow some, correct?

The recommended mount point on the JJ is -4 from true center, so if you are mounting at -2 that is a real little amount of nose you are going to have. The extra 5cms will make huge difference in float and little difference in control. This ski is so light and easy to throw around in trees and tight spots.

The 178 will ski really short in the pow, especially mounted fairly close to center and you will have tip dive.

I promise you they will work perfectly for you.

I can't help on the surfaces except from what i've read, and that is that they may be too stiff for what you want them for, you something a little more forgiving.

If you get the Surfaces. Make sure you get the Live Life 2s. They are 50%softer than the live lifes with no camber and carbon stringers in the rear, they sound pretty sweet; though i don't know the flex and stuff on them.

aight thanks for the help guys. + karma to flyingpelvis for all the help man... i'll definitely take the JJ's into consideration...

what do you guys think of this years Line Blend though? they are 183 cm. 100mm underfoot, and i could get them for pretty cheap... not too stiff, not too soft either. ive got anthems and im a fan of Line so i think the new Blends could be pretty sick... thoughts?

- salomon guns (i think its a 181 at (135-99-125)

- Armada ARV 185 (130-95-119)

- 08 K2 Seth 179 (130-98-118) i believe it actually measures around 184. it has a wee bit of rocker

- 09 K2 obSETHed 179 (138-105-125) it has a little more rocker than the 08 Seth.

- Moment Tahoe 180 (127-96-118) very light ski from what i hear

- Rossignol S5 aka Scratch Brigade. 178 or 185 (128-98-121)

If you can get them cheap, like real cheap then yeah they are an absolutey sweet ski, and would recommend it for a go everywhere do anything ski.

wow good list man.. thanks. i knew all along about the Seths, and despite how much i would love to get my hands on a pair of those, i dont have the money or the option.

not a fan of guns, ive ridden them.

185 Rossis are another good option, i'll have to think about those because i could get them cheap as well. I had totally forgotten about the Tahoe though, that sounds great i'll check that out.

no problem.. but every once and a while you can find a pretty sick deal around the web.. ill pm you if i find anything. im in the same situation as you are: all mtn/ pow ski.. and im 6'..
