I just want to ask people on hear what they know about AIDS.

Things like how you get it, who is most likely to get it, what are the symptoms of AIDS, is it on the rise or generally in decline, what kind of life you can have with it, and the possibility of a cure.

If your having sex of any kind then you are at risk from getting it and should know much more about it and the risks you are taking.

If you dont know much about it then i urge you to read this and also to find out more about it.

AIDS-Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome

1) What cause. What does the virus do in the body? Made if transmission?

HIV destroys the helper cells which are important to functioning of the immune system. They release lymphonkies which stimulates T and B cells produce antibodies. It spreads quickly through unprotected Sex, with people who have the virus. It is the Human Immune Deficiency Virus.

2) The Symptoms of Aids patients develop protozoan infections in the lung, fungal infections of the mouth, and rare form of cancer that is normally prevented by the immune system.

• Severe diarrhea

• Shortness of breath

• Difficulty swallowing

3) Methods of treatment

i doubt cutting someones arm and then rubbing your blood (considering you had aids) would give them aids. very unlikely. cuts pump blood out and dont mix in.

AIDS is really called 'Aquired Humain Immuinodeficency Syndrome' virus.It's the final satge of HIV(Humain immunodefiency Virus).

The Virus is introduced into the body through sex or needles(common).Not by kissing.The virus multiplates in its dormant stage.The virus destoys the white cell(immune system).Finaly death occurs.Death is caused,not by AIDS,but by a stupid infection.

The first symtoms are

-general ill feeling

-Loss of weight,apetite

-frequent sicknesses

Later symptoms are

-Weakness

-poor resistence to infection

-cancers

Like we all know the Syndrome cannot be 100%cured.Modern science can delay the progression but cant stop it.

Responsability,what's that?
 
i really think that this post was more of a rhetorical question that was meant to make other people aware of AIDs because it definitely is a growing problem

This reminded I should start this huge essay on AIDS I have to do. I do know that the AIDS situation in sub-saharian Africa is desperate, and I have to find ways to redeem it. Huge essay spanning the whole senior year. Shit. I hate essays.

Its an important issue. And anyone that has sex can get it.

Mattman gave a really good discription of what happens in full blown AIDS.

But what most people forget and almost the point i wanted to make is that people who are infected with HIV and do not have full blown AIDS do not show any symptons what so ever! and are just as infectious as people with full blown AIDS. This incabtion period can last between a few months or even a few years.

This is what seems to be forgoton about this disease, that you can carry it and infect other people, without any knowledge at all.

a kid at my school is writing a huge essay about how the supposed antidote to aids is a more effective killer than the HIV virus and its aftermath. but anyway you can get aids from kissing although it would be really difficult, as the roof of your mouth is covered with tiny cuts... that does however mean that chicks can get it from a shot in the mouth. also as an interesting fact the HIV virus has never been isolated, so there is a chance it may not even exist and the aids disease is caused by something else entirely

Meh, Its improtant to have the awareness.

And dont think im preching, ive fucked up and not used a Johnny on a few occasions. (Only 3 but each time ive wanted to kick my own ass) And each time i have i dreaded the fact that im gonna have to go to the GU clinic and get a nurse to force a cotton bud down my cock.

Its horrible, but its the responsible thing to do because needlessly infecting someone else is dispicable.

my room mate was readin an article today about a new AIDS 'vaccine'. apparently it has been tested in rats monkeys and humans and has shown results. It is NOT a cure for AIDS or HIV but what it does is stop the progression of the virus in its tracks. it stops the virus from destroying the immune system, so this could lead to people living even fuller lives than they can now. Granted if its not caught for a long time it isnt going to do any good, and no it does not help the immune system repair itself, it just stops the destruction. i find this to be a giant step because the human race has not been able to CURE a single virus and HIV is a quite complex virus to begin with.

this does not mean people should be engaging in unprotected sex by any means. however it could help those already with the disease.

the best thing is if you are having sex practice safe sex and still get tested everyonce and again. The best protection against aids is just not to have sex. in this day and age that is very difficult. However i know a lot of people who plan to wait until they are married both men and women alike and i have utmost respect for them. i think if they can abstain that is great.
