These guys are shredding it way more than the "super x-games pros'

Vanular=stoked to see a full season of filming

Ahmet=urban ninja

T-Wall=slaying the park

YAY for skiing.

 
podiums will be different this year. fuck god if candied podiums again. he just did an uglier version of sammys run. but yeah, they will be diff, i predict sammy will be up there still.
 
If corey stays healthy and uninjured all year he will take evry slopestyle contest. THats my bet.
 
Candide threw the best run of the day. His jumps were just a bit smoother than Sammy's. This debate is done.
 
Sorry for doubling, but I do agree, x-games podiums will be quite different this year. I think that it will be T-Wall, West, and Sammy/Ahmet. I don't know which order that will be in but those are my predictions.
 
Wallisch and Ahmet wont podium, and I would be surprised if they even made it there. As much as I love both of them, I just don't see it happening for a bit longer. I agree with Sammy and Colby though.

kid, your a huge skier. does maybe doing switch corks change things for you? or that candide actually incorporated his own style in his runs, and something unique, instead of everyone just doing gap 450 to ta the flat down?

and these guys doing better for movie parts wont do anything at all to podiums, it will just show competiton results dont mean shit for skiers ability. It will show that if you wanna be a robot and look like evryeone else and have no unique style with your tricks, you'll do good at comps, and that people who actually care about there skiing and style will keep on killing the competition sluts.
 
im just guessing here but did you just recently watch REALTIME and realize their greatness
 
alright. wrong. sammy had origional style, obviousluy you havent been around skiing long enough to notice that. and candide may have had "unique style" but that doesnt mean it was good. i couldn't stand it. and what was that comment about switch corks??? im pretty sure sammy might have done a coulpe.. who knows tho.
 
I don't know if Wallisch is the comp type. Sure, he has insaine skills, stomps everything from rails to jumps, but I don't know, it's like there's still a little somthing missing to win comps like the X. But there was a crazy improvement in his jump skills in the past year too, from what I've seen. So maybe he'll get podiums. He's still a god though.

And I think Andreas could kick asses too
 
These threads make me laugh. I'll admit, Ahmet, Vanular, and T-Wall are pretty darn good, but they're not even on the same level as Candide, Jon, Sammy, Dumont, T-Hall, Schiller, etc...
 
Sammy will dominate this year, he did so well last year and has showed so much improvement with his film segments, I be he will podium xgames and freeskiing open this year
 
sammy colby and schiller will be top 3, t-wall and ahmet are amazing, and will probs be in the top ten just not podium yet
 
Its a different type of skiing for some of them. Vanular is a solid skier and will def podium in comps if hes healthy, hes already proven it like 2 years ago. As for ahmet and wallisch, rails jams they could podium no problem, but as for slopestyle and big air shit, its doubtful that they will in any major event. Neither of them have a focus on comps in that way. As for filming, they could put together a more solid segment that could rival the top guys out there, and have already put many of them to shame. Some guys are comp skiers, some are segment guys, and others can do both (hatveit). Andreas will undoubtedly slay everything this year if hes healthy.
 
im kinda gettin sick of almost every major pipe comp comin down to those 2...there both awsome skier thoe, espec tanner
 
Candide is the best skier ever .. end of story you guys talk shit but you have no idea how good he is.. the shit he does every single film hes been in have been amazing (who else can make a 10 min segmant every year and the whole segmant be bull shit stuff hardly anyone could do let alone think of doing 1st) his style is totally unique and sick, True style isnt tryingits just being , and candides a ninja .. he soo kicked sammys ass at x-games... T-wall is preety dope i must say though..

I am consistently amazed by the introspectiveness of some of the kids on here, and this isn't a europe v america thing, but you get a kid saying that candide (blasphemously spelt wrong) shouldn't have won x slope last year which is clearly bs and another saying that twall and ahmet are better than jon, andreas, tj etc. I mean sure they're sick but they really aren't on the same level.

What I'm saying is that you need to realise there's more to freeskiing than the ns bubble of darlings. Sure, you may be able to realte to them better, but that doesn't mean they are the be-all and end-all. If you wanna look at contest contenders outside of dumont/tanner for pipe then you've got Mike Riddle, Kevin Rolland, Xavier Bertoni and Andreas Hatveit. Slope has more contenders, but still to say that guys like ahmet and twall are gonna dominate the major comps this year is ludicrous.

Unless of course they do and I end up getting owned...
 
The title of the thread is "Ahmet, Vanular and T-Wall stepping it up", not "Ahmet, Vanular and T-Wall are going to podium in all the major comps this year." I agree with the first statement and disagree with the second.

The point here is that nobody (except an idiot or two) is comparing these guys to the top comp circuit skiers."Comparisons are odious," Dostoevsky said and I believe him. Rather, what's being said is that these guys are STEPPING IT UP, i.e. pretzeling mad urban, spinning onto kinks, switching up midway through quads and otherwise pushing the envelope of what's considered possible on skis.

Nevertheless if Wallisch makes it into the X Games and he can hold it together under pressure, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the podium.

 
yeah, jon is still amazing and PK blew up last year, so I expect to see them around...I really hope I see PK, Colby, and Ahmet somewhere
 
I'd love to see Vanular clean house in slopestyle this year. But I'll be happy if he can just stay healthy all year so he can have a proper video segment for 2008.

It seems unlikely, but it would be pretty cool to see Ahmet or Twall podium.
 
word. Candide it so good. Elliot P is a fucking tard. just because he started skiing last year, owns a bandana, and watched a t-wallish vid on newschoolers he thinks he can slam Candide who has indisputable been one of the 5 best freestyle skiers for the last 5+ years. No hate on wallish but candide is fucking amazing. anyone that says that carlsons tap dancing rail bullshit deserved to win has no idea what freeskiing is about.
 
well said. but sammy could maybe beat candide this year, plus hes much younger, and theres only time for him to grow up. i'm not saying candides out of the game but i dont see him doing much more slopestyle and focusing more on bc and pipe just like tanner to preserve the talent he has. and when i say much more time i know he has atleast 3 or 4 more years in him.
 
theres alot more to winning a comp than their nasty skills. its crazy pressure and that can really fuck with you.

sammy, vanular, west for sure can do it, but have t wallish of dedali ever been in the huge comps?
