I agree that there are differences between men and women. I think we all agree on that. But do you really believe his claim that women's skiing is going to be completed dominated by transgender women? I doubt it. I think having a transgender league sounds like a good idea to me, but at the moment I think this issue is being blown out of proportion.

She also finished dead last in the 100 freestyle. Really seems like if she had such a huge advantage/ wanted to break records she should have crushed the 100 free right?

Dude you understand that she has a larger heart, bigger lungs, and longer arms than anyone she's competing against as a direct result of going through puberty as a man right? She still has male genitalia and thus naturally produces more testosterone than anyone she's competing against. Testosterone directly contributes to muscle growth and recovery. To say that she has a massive advantage would be an understatement.

We cannot infer her intent with transitioning. I would say that it is likely not the case that she transitioned to win medals and break records. Ahmet didn't say that was her intent. So why the hell are we hung up on this? The reality of the situation is that regardless of intent she has a massive advantage and if you want to deny that then you look pretty fuckin silly imo.

I never said they didn't have an advantage. I am simply stating that if these advantages were as dramatic as you make them out to be she should be taking first in every event. The NCAA has allowed transgender athletes for the past 3 decades, with the advantages you are stating shouldn't we see more cases of transgender athletes winning? Also they require hormone blockers for trans athletes, meaning they wont produce the same amount of testosterone once they transition.

Would like to also point out, least for swimming, having a male body also has its disadvantages. Bigger lungs, take longer to fill. Bigger heart, requires more oxygen. Bigger bones, more weight to pull in the pool. Pros and Cons, its not as cut an dry as people in this thread make it out to be.

Yeah man you've displayed that you dont even have basic knowledge of human physiology with this statement. Having a larger heart results in a greater volume of blood (oxygen) moving through your circulatory system. Oxygen is necessary for aerobic exercise (swimming). If you dont even know that then I don't really see much point in having this argument.

Just because there's women who can beat some men in competition doesn't mean it's fair for women to compete with men in competition. The trans community would be significantly better off if they just acknowledge that trans women/men aren't biological women/men, and that's ok.

I totally agree that this is confusing and goes against everything we learned as kids (i.e if you've got a dick - you're a guy ) but I listened to a talk by a trans man who said "Some women are born with penises, some men are born with vaginas" and that sorta helped me wrap my brain around it. Also the reason why people want to stop assigning gender at birth, etc.

Sure, and I believe I get that. But there also must be the acceptance that despite what gender you are/want to be you cannot blatantly disregard that humans born with testicals are biologically very, very different than humans born with ovaries on average and when it comes to physical competition it isn't right to ignore this.

I totally agree, I just don't know what the best solution is. On one hand I want to make sure everyone is included, and on the other hand I think it's important to keep sports on an equal playing field. Just a tricky subject...

m-f or f-m trans must compete in their own class or if there's not enough competition must compete in the male classes where nobody can argue an advantage. That's all you'd have to do. I circle back to my main point, none of this would be a problem if the trans community could just accept that gender identity doesn't change the fact that ovaries and testicles are different and do different things to people's bodies.
