Now i stated off on a skateboard becuase i thought it was cool and my cousin said so. then i picked up a pair of skates and thought it was cool too. then i dropped the skates and grabbed my board again cause its 'cooler.' now, i dont do either, and i dont care. I hear all the time of people giving bladers shit and i think its just stupid. just check out this letter written to EXPN.COM

Well in this letter they removed inline skating from the '05 X-Games which I really do not approve of because watching them boost 15ft. out of the pipe is like watching the Dumont boost 22ft. it really is just entertaining and amazing to watch. So what if one of the best riders is a girl? Aren't girls supposed to be considered equal in this time? It's incredible to see how they actually remove a sport from the X-Games that was one of the core sports that have been around since the start of X-Games. In my opinion this is a terrible move on their part to remove such a big part of their competition.

wow, that guy has some very solid points. i hate the rollerbladers at my park, not because they are rollerbladers, but because they suck as people.

i think though we should all just stop taking things so seriously. its fun to skate, inline or whatever you like to do? don't get into a gang fight about it.

im not trying to be a dick but all of the rollerbladers ive seen at skateparks and met at my school are just fags, and i think rollerblading looks very bad its like watching a good snowblader its still gay even though there good. but it really pisses me off when people talk about it on this site because this is a skiing website, and i used to play rollerhockey when i was like 8 and it isnt anything like skiing except that your facing forward.

^ tru dat... i come from ottawa ontario canada.. now i am a skate boarder i used to think 'fruit booting' was really gay and anyone with blades on there feet shud die... one die while skating in kanta i witnesed the first thing i had ever seen don on blades (trick wise) a kid goes off a kicker and pulls a perfect back flip, first try no warm up no nothing that day changed my whol perspective on skatiing and some of the big shit people do on blades makes skating looks like sisy shit BUT on the other hand i do beleive how ever that skateboarding is a alot more technical sport than roller blading will ever be just beciase we can do more motions with our boards, therefore more posiblities u have that guy doing a huge ledge, we have skaters like chris hhaslam who is thrashing switch flip back smith 14 stair hand rails and billy marks switch bigheelflip front board hand rails. we also have street skating pioneers like jamie thomas trying to ollie over a hand rail to basically a two story drop and andrew renoylds frontside fliping 1 story drops with a 15 foot gap after it... no offence to the bladers but i think skating has a brighter future than rollerblading.. with new genration... 13-15 year old kids who are doing tricks that vets were ding for there final trick three years ago. aka ryan sheklar enuff said. ok if u have read this far i am surprised and i could type for hours about skateboarding... peace

dude, that guy just fucking owned skateboarding and the guy who wrote Amped... i have done all 4 sports, ski, snowboard, sk8 and rollerblade... i think that skateboarding is the easiest to learn, i mean dogs can skateboard. and skiing is the hardest... however, i have watched movies of all 4 sports, and i hate to say it, but Rollerblading on the streets is ballsier and progressed more than any other sport. dont get me wrong, skiing is very very close...and i love skiing and want to take it to the same level (NOT THE SAME TRICKS) that rolelrblading is at, but rollerblading right now is just so crazy, plus they land on concrete when they fall, i am sorry but even the most bulletproof east coast ice is softer than concrete... just my 2 cents

^ No buddy, it's not. EC ice is rock hard, it's just you're going faster and on a down-slope taking away from some of the pounding, plus you slide across ice.

Great letter... why the fuck did they take inline off the X-Games lineup, though? And that book looks fucking stupid. The comment about one of the best inliners 'being a girl,' especially, really pissed me off, what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

i blade and have for 5 years, blading is the only none-poser sport out there besides skiing, its cool tgo be a biker or skateboarder or snowboarder where im from. but when i say i ski and blade everyone looks at me liek im retarted

Well biking is kinda poser,I saw a 12 year old kid with a 3,000$ bike.All he did was show it off.

that comment about the best skiier in the sport being a gorl really pissed me off. the guy who wrote the letter answered that one badly I wouldnt have said that shes not the best blader in the sport and givin excuses I would hve drawn attention to how sexist that was and how its great that the best person in the sport is a girl. if anything its a + for the sport its like ahead of its time. very few unisex sports leagues have women who dominate

 
okay whoever said skateboarding is the easiest to do out of all 4 sports is retarded........just think, why do skiers/snowboarders/rollerbladers take there stuff down things so much bigger than skateboarders.....well thats because the sport is easier and for skiers/snowboarders/rollerbladers you just have to hope and ur skis/board/skates come with you......where as a skateboard dont you actually gotta have a technique to poping the boarding and making it stick with ur feet the skateboard dont just float man thats why we (skateboarders) dont take the tricks down 40 stair rails without a problem.....god ppl are so fucking dumb, yes skateboarding is a bit sold out due to posers ppl who are new to the skateboarding and dont kno anything about it and other ppl who fuck it up like tony hawk underground and nike and bam majera (i cant even spell his fucking last name cuz i dont pay any attention to him he barely skates). in my opinion skateboarding is most deffinatly the hardest to do and there is a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY bigger selection of tricks than there are in skiing snowboarding and blading.

none of those sports are "easy" they are all as hard as you make them. if all you do is soul small ledges, its easy, if youre doing switchups on huge dropoff ledges, thats hard

You want us to go away from your world of action sports and we have gone quietly. We are out of the X Games as a competing sport (Inline was removed from the roster for 2005) and we haven't complained. Our industry has been humbled and our numbers have slipped because obese American children wearing BAM shirts and playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater say we are lame. The majority of core rollerbladers have left your precious skateparks and knee-high ledges in search of more challenging terrain.

We have no desire to look like you; skate like you, chill with you, idolize you or even listen to the same music as you. We never did. We don't like to eat lunch with you at school, or hang with you in bars. It's not that we don't like skateboarders or hate skateboarding, despite being hated upon. It's just that we are not skateboarders, so why should we care what is going on in your sport? We are the anti-jock, underground, "can't sell out cuz there ain't no money in it", misunderstood, non-conforming, grassroots, for the love, most under-the-radar sport in all of action sports.

We are everything skateboarding used to be, which is probably why you all feel so threatened by Rollerblading.
