Age Restrictions...

So I just got back from Walgreens after being rejected of buying some Nyquill (sp?(Cough Syrup for those who don't know)). Heres the story...

My mom has been sick all day and didn't have any left and asked me to get it for her. So I drive over to Walgreens and grab some off the shelf. I am waiting in line to purchase it and the kid in front of me who is 17 and a junior in high school just like me asks to get a pack of cigs. The lady gives him the cigs without any questions and I go up to the counter to buy the Nyquill and the clerk asked how old I was. I was like "17". And I look the same age wise as the kid in front of me or older. She then said "sorry, I can't sell you this. If I did I could get into trouble."

So here I am now, shot down from buying cough syrup for my sick mother.

What the fuck is up with age restrictions these days?

It's not like I was going to go drink the entire bottle of cough syrup to get "high". If I wanted to some funky feelings I would have just gone to the guy on the street corner selling shrooms...

What are the age restrictions in Canada my fellow Canadians? How about Europe?

Bottom line, Age restrictions on cough syrup is BS.

That is bullshit. If some dumb kid wants to buy cough syrup and drink it all, then we should let natural selection take its course and weed out his retarded genes so he may never reproduce.

we have a convience store by my school, and i came in one day looking for cough syrup cause i was really really really sick. and i was looking around and could only find cough drops, so i started to walk out of the store and the guy who owns the store was like "hey you're leaving without getting anything?" and i was like "ahh i'm looking for cough syrup but you guys don't have any" and he started looking around and then he realized they were right next to the cigarettes. and i was like "oh great i have to be 18 or something don't i?" and he was like "no no i jus tkeep them back here so the kids don't steal it" ... so i bought my cough syrup and that was it.

maybe it's just like cvs and walgreens and those places that have the restrictions?

How Ironic...

LE.Skiing has a thread directly below mine right now about how he OD'd on cold medicine last night...

and I think you may be right about how its only Walgreens and shit who have the restrictions.

i was actually shot down once for over the counter pain killers. Im on some high end pain killers for my knee. They require a perscription, which i filled out. Then i asked for a bottle of lower end pain killers called ac&c or 2:22's. They refused to sell me low end pain killers because they contained codien but filled out a perscription painkiller that is dirived from heroin. Pretty fucking dumb huh?

not too surprising that the lady didnt ask for id. lots of places dont. they dont have to ask if theyre almost positive your at least 18. if theyre wrong, they get fired, but how many customers do you think they get a day? tons.

we had a convieniance store refuse to sell us 50 cans of whipped cream, but that was a joke. To be honest, as cliche as this is gonna sound, how youre dressed matters. if youve got the fitted hat, and a hoodie, baggy shit, theyre gonna question you as a matter of principle. steriotyping. ive been FOLLOWED around stores and searched as im leaving if i dont buy anything.

yeah

there trying to crack down on getting high on cough syrup but its not really doing much cus people just steal it like the time i did it when i was younger we stole 5 bottles of gels in front of the pharmacy and just walked out... that shit is stupid tho, rather smoke sum herbs er shroomies er acid

theres even certain makeups you cant buy cuz all these kids are huffing that shit, pretty fucked up

Mahfuckin werd.

That was gay how he let that kid buy cigs but you couldn't get cough syrup. Its just the dumbass kids who trip on cough syrup who fuck everything up for everyone. After a few of them trip too hard... the government puts down a blanket law that is almost always retarded.

dude that was kind of dumb on your part. If she asks you how old you are you obviously have to be 18 to buy it, and if she didnt ask for ID you should have just said you were 18 and bought the cough syrup...

hmmm ive never had that problem. Ive bought cold medicine (syrup, pills, doesnt matter) and never ever had a problem with it, regardless of age. That's pretty rediculous though.

Dude i was also buying some pencils for school and some chips and she didnt even have the cough syrup in her hand when she asked and when she did it wasn't like the are you old enough it sounded like general convestion. besides why would i even think that you had to be 18 to buy fucking nyquill.

when I was in europe they checked that the signature on my debit card matched the signature I put on the receipt. Has anyone had that happen to them ever?
