Age of peak skiing performance

I often wonder how much longer I will be able to ski. Obviously the longer you ski the better you get, but it your body gets older too. When do you think, or when was your peak skiing performance.

this. unless you started later. Its really how much time it takes for your knee to slowly evaporate

I'm 24 and in the best shape of my life, and top skiing ability of my life. However, my knees are def sore more than ever..

im 18 and i think im just almost about to begin my ascent to my peak of skiing. ive been skiing since like age 2 or 3, though. i know a ton of people pick it up a bit later. this year hasn't been the best snow wise but ive been having a blast all season. definitely one i'll remember for a long time.

Some of the best park skiers are in their mid 20s but there are also a ton of 17-21 year old who are insane too.

I'm 27 and skiing better than I ever have before. I don't try new tricks quite as often (or land on my head as often) as at age 17, but definitely still progressing.

I turned 35 today, and I feel my skiing ability is at it's peak and I've been skiing since 1981. Your focus may change, but you're always going to get better, more experienced, and continue to have fun. It's all a mindset.

I dont think your skiing peaks at a certain age to be honest. A little unrelated but in the NHL (a sport arguably more abusive than skiing) theres still guys that are playing well in their 40's such as Teemu Selanne. He's doing better than ever too. I think the only reason a skier may plateau or lose skill, is more based on a lack of interest (jobs, life happened, etc.) or were injured and had to call it quits on progression. Andy Parrys dub at 26 is a perfect example that age shouldnt make a difference. Makes me feel a little better to hear seeing as Im almost 21 and just finally getting blind 4s and still have much more on the checklist

People think it's a lot younger than it in actual fact is just because the sport is so young. People think Dumont is 'old'. He seems old because he's been around since the early stages, but he's only 27. There's athletes out there doing way more demanding sports than skiing who are like 32.

Niger.

Eheath is fat.

ya skiing is still a very young sport, some of the earliest pro's we got are only in their mid 30's now. and look at those guys, JP is skiing better than he ever has, pep's probably around 30, Pollard, etc.. we dont have many over 30 but the ones we do have are skiing at their best and some of the best skiers out there. shit i think delorme's like 30 or older and he IS the best park skier around IMO.

For a pure park skier though, it does take a pretty big toll on your body, I think the biggest factor is how well you can avoid injuries. really if you havent fucked your body, early to mid 30's is when you have the most ideal combination of physical and mental performance in sports. its not exactly the same for everybody but in general thats where we peak.

Also i think competition park skiers just loose the desire to compete after a certain amount of years doing it because they realize their's better more fun ways to ski. I know i wouldnt want to do more than a couple years of that shit, id get bored way too fast.

im 28, blew a knee at 17. ive learned new tricks almost every year ive been skiing. this year i got some new rail combos, and sw right 5 so far, gonna get 7. only lost a few tricks, like sw misty. might be able to get it back tho. no reason to fall off, unless you cant hack it anymore...

21, and I am just a little past frequent hucking of meat. I think I might be better all around, but I only do things that I know I can do. You can be in the best shape of your life at 30 and ski better than ever, but when you do take a hard fall you're gonna hurt for a couple weeks. I think people probably do the craziest shit between 16-25 and at some point in there chill their tits and stop progressing crazy.

On the contrary, it's one of the oldest sports there is, with the first recorded instance of people sliding around on snow using ski-like planks being 600 b.c.

If you just mean park skiing, then yes, it is young, but Pollard, Pep, JP, etc. aren't really professional park skiers, so i'm not sure what you are referring to as "very young"

Candide is still progressing in park at over 30. And I m not even talking about BC. I think that if you take care of your body and keep skiing a lot, you can progress in park until around 30 and bc 40ish(just look at Mike Douglas). Drink too much, get fat and start skiing less, you ll peak at like 22.
