Age and how much money do you have in your bank account

22, and a little over $18,000 the last time I checked. Parents gave me 10 when I opened up the account, and the rest is from my bar mitzvah, high school and college graduation, and money from jobs. I'm lucky enough to not have to pay for school, food, or rent, and I own my car outright, so my bank account only ever grows unless I make large purchases haha.

its probably a college fund account as well. My bank book says i had $62K when i was 4 years old, but that got transfered to a seperate account
 
well my grandparents were very rich on both sides of the family when they all dided they left my sister and i a lot of money, some of it is still being settled so the 100k is actually incorrect ill give you the real answer when im 25...but as for the other stuff my mom has always made me save the money i got from gifts or work and when i was in 7th grade i put 1000 dollars into apple and made a good amount when i sold last year. i had other stocks that also played out well...also i come from a pretty well off family so when i had birthdays and first communion and all that celebratory bs i would make a killing which would all go into my various accounts...then the real killer is i got a scholarship so i dnt have to pay for college..so basically 19 years of savings and investments

19 and $248.79 in checking. All my money is in savings so I don't spend it, I have no idea how much is in savings but I know it's a solid amount.
 
20 and not really any of your business, but I'll give estimates.

Checking: close to $1000 now, planning on buying a cam soon though

Savings: like $1000, plan on putting lots in there with the rest of my summer paychecks

School account: $~2700. I only use it for books, and once I'm out of school, it will most likely go towards paying off loans.
 
agree with everything you said completely.

especially 1 and 2. all of the money i have to my name is mine that i worked for and saved. none of it is inheritance. and it's still nothing at all and i couldn't even afford to move out and get my own place as is. but anyway, good post.
 
its called take a look at the economy, if you have under 20k theres no reason to have a saving account. Youre basicly giving an interest free loan to the bank, that youre gona make a minimum of 5% off of. The safest place to keep your money is under your bed, at least you have controle over it with no charges. With that being said, I took a 1000 i got for college graduation this spring opened up a saving account to be resonsible...my interest payment on it was $.02. Going on vacation and had bills to pay to its closer to 0.00 right now

Time to look for a better paying interest rate. Last year I made $36 on my savings account. That isn't that much, but I dont have that much in it. But over time, pennies turn into dollars, those dollars start making interest as well. It's a long term thing, not a short term thing. Under the bed is a horrible place. I've actually lived in a house that caught on fire. I was lucky enough to have one of the 2 rooms that weren't destroyed.
Maybe you should work on your saving skills rather than trying to justify a lack there of.
