AFTERLAME

I just watched 'afterlame' (for those of you who know anything about snowboarding) and it was sick. The footage in that movie is the most beautiful cinematography i've ever seen and the editing is just as amazing. Rad, Rad snowboarding too, only thing i wish was that they had made everyone actual segments, cuz nobody really has a seggie they just make segments out of different sessions sorta....a dope movie nontheless. i highly recommend checkin it

Sounds awesome. Maybe the lack of segments is their edge on trying something new??

Looking forward to seeing it tho!

kinda gives the sense of teamwork instead of individualism

^Yes

I'm so stoked to see it. They filmed a lot in Idaho again so that should be cool to see. A friend of mine is getting it soon. So hopefully I'll see it soon.

D-loc's picture looks like a monkey smoking that cig. If you had a mug like that would you really want everyone to see it.

robot food definently makes the best videos between skiing and snowboarding.. i own lame and afterbang, can't wait to see afterlame tho

they gave out mad shit at the premier. throwing stuff into the audience kind of makes people beat the shit out each other, but whatever. my friend got k2 pants, and a board bag. it was dope

i was dissapointed, for sure dope in all aspects besides no segments, its like an on going intro/documentary, still worth going to the premier though

was afterlame better that their previous efforts?

All I can say is that it was different from everyone else and much more like the videos of 10 years ago. Much more of a seasons documentary. I'm not sure if everyone is ready to except such a change from todays standard video formula. But this much I'm sure of..if they put out another TYPICAL robot film i would have been disappionted. Everyone and their brother has jocked the robot's style since afterbang fucked shit up a two years ago. Come on..even Mack Dawg is using casio bands in their sound track and trying oh so hard to act like they are having fun in their movie with preconceived and staged elements of spontanious wackiness. Change is hard to except but change is what I expect from the robots. I bet that next season one of the mack dawgs and poorboyz of the video industry follows the same formula as afterlame. the robots are one of the last truely creative and unique forces left in action sports.

viva el robots!

i havent seen afterlame yet.. but it sounds like how most surf movies are set up... minus the traveling and cultural segments.

they basically go to each spot and show each rider riding the same waves with some solo segments once in a while... its nothing new... |

but again i havent seen it yet so i dnno.

just like with afterbang, robotfood has tried something new and gotten a love/hate responce at first. Now its time to see if it gets big in a little while and everyone starts copying it.

dude, artsy people aren't fags, were just more attentive to the things around us. An artsy movie beats the hell out of a 'super rad x-treme hardcore' movie that you guys like

plehouse is the only skiing company that gets even close to robot food's amazing creativity and flow

an artfag is a common, comical term, often used by the artists themselves. it does not imply homosexuality.

mudflap is definately on it. and Robotfood once agains kills it with the vibe. Afterlame is basically a film about snowboarding, and a close-knit crew and what they did all season. i think the usual 'segments' in a video can ruin the flow of a movie. This format will mos def be ripped off and worked in to future snowriding videos. what will be interesting with breaking a 'rider segments' movie formula is how it will effect the recognition of riders who base their careers on individual video parts. i do however love to see things like location features and group sessions.

I haven't seen Afterlame either but I agree with Mudflap's take on things. They needed to switch it up or risk being grouped in with all the other imitators that are constantly playing catch-up. Afterbang brought a different take on things to us a couple of years ago and Lame built on that - but we can't forget that the robots seem to be all about innovation - whether that's their mission or they truly are just having fun and it just happens to be groundbreaking and we all buy into it.

Frankly I'm impressed that they've been able to create different movies year in and year out - considering how much expectation is now placed on their films.

Anyways, I just want to see the new movie :)

it's all very exciting.

yea ive been thinking about the whole 'no segs' thing for a whiel now, itd be awesome to see the progression of a session, like guys pushign their and each other's limits, leading to crashes, whihc are always refreshing

hike up your skirt a little more...

i think that setup sounds very sick. i hope one of my sb roommates picks it up so i don't have to

haven't seen afterlame but i'm lookin forward to it. I have seen high five. It's a sweet movie, and not to talk shit, but it does seem like a lot of the 'high fives' and related things were staged. Snowboarding's at the point where almost everyone can do the same tricks, so movies have to do something different to stand out. I hope afterlame provides something new and fresh for the third year in a row.

p.s. high five kick's ass. the level of talent is amazing, and it's truly worth watching. i don't feel it's as groundbreaking as the last 2 years robot food movies, but that should not be a put down on high five. buy it, watch it, and love it. level 1 has upped the ante yet again.

ya, the 'session' segments are really fuckin cool. and as usual robotfood uses a sickly unique soundtrack. I was really stoked on the idaho segment, but maybe that's just cuz i'm from idaho...

i would say chulksmack love hate and moment of truth are better

but i personally didnt like afterlame

live to ride , ride to live

crazy. so much props for doing it different. afterband was rediculous lame wasn't as good so i'm curious with afterlame...but again you can't rely on edgy filming and editing to make a great movie...robot food is no longer staked to the brim with the best riders so i am doubtful on the sick trick factor...but i will deffinetly check it out!

.

I saw LAME by robot food. That was one of the best movies i've EVER seen (actual beats many ski movies).. The trailer for afterbang looks ill. I wish somebody around he would buy it so i could watch it. I dont really want to spend 30 dollars on a snowboard movie when i could be buyin a ski flick instead.. but i really want to see it

lets not forget the bonus section the robots are known for. Theres hours of things to drool at after your done watchin the movie.

robotfood is by far the best extremesports movie company out there, super progressive and different, not even any comparison to what they do

GO FLAMES!!

it's all about absinthe. their movie POP is the shit. they still take afterlame down. that fact of the matter is you just can fuck with the sheer animal force that is travis rice. the man is a beast and shreds everything. nobody freeride jibs like him. pop has the best team of riders shredding for them hands down. boys like wolle, gigi, romain, and muller among others. i liked afterlame, and i liked the new TB movie (though they're no longer TB), but POP rules the shit. and props to aaron biittner in that mfm movie.

Yeah I have to agree on POP. That is the best movie I've seen yet. Travis is just unbelievable and I think Nicolas' seg is my favorite of all time. I still have to see Afterlame before I can count it out but damn POP is sooo fucking good it's crazy.

Anyone else think the opening in afterlame and in ski movie 2 (i think, one of the ski movies anyway) is really similar. They both follow the pros around and focus in on the sponsors.

'Yeah it's different, that's the idea. After you make 10 of these things you need to do something different, so we tried it. Not completely satisfied whit it but it was cool to change it up.' Jess Gibson. I thought it was pretty good, afterbang is still my favorite, but it was cool seeing something different, and a documentary type snow video done well and in a way that isnt boring after the first viewing.

suepr awesome cool!

it's funny, I was thinking about Robot Food the other day... they had something good going for sure.

afterbang is still the best snowsports movie ever probably. obviously the riding in TITA and art of flight is way more insane but the editing is way better

The world is a little less nice of a place without Robot Food producing Snowboard movies. ALl three of those movies are fuckin FIRE. The other movies have pretty traditional rider segments, Afterlame was their opus.

Love Afterlame, used to watch it all the time when I lived in the alps. That and The Front Line remain my favourite snowsports movies to date.

Great soundtrack in Afterlame too.
