Afterbangs Suck?

bummer, that's exactly why I wait a season with new ski designs, to see how they do, and if there is something wrong if it's fixed, before I get them. If those are Compton's they could be prototypes though, which is actually a good thing they did that cause then it'll get fixed, if not - that sucks.

Pretty sure those are Compton's. This could happen to any ski. Plus this is an old pic, that happened a while ago. I lol at everyone getting scared.

a friend of mine has been riding his really hard for the last couple months and they are fine, just the normal chipping of what would be a side wall on a different ski

i know a guy who broke his afterbangs pretty soon after getting them, jumping a cliff or something kind of weird... he's a pretty light guy and doesn't really do a ton of rails either.

but i think it's far too early to determine any sort of durability trend with the skis, so i wouldn't worry about a few isolated incidents at this point.

wait a second....a price point ski replacing INVADERS might have a durability problem..?

sorry, that was too harsh. What I wonder about is how A Bangs with 25 hard days on them will compare with Thalls(09 and 2010 models) with equal days on them. Both skis have a flex point close to the binding, 176 Thalls will measure about 178.5 along the base and A Bangs are 178s(I think) so that comparo could be good... My bet is I would like Thalls more, I bet that A Bangs will break in a LOT and end up pretty soft throughout after 20 days, where Thalls will break in a bit and stay near that flex for a long time. Also I don't like symmetrical skis... but we will all see after people have time on A Bangs

ha!

Yeah, this was to be expected. It's the first generation of production, there's almost always kinks in the first generation that will be worked out in the next.

Well duh... they are designed after a skateboard, what is the one thing skateboards are good at? breaking. I don't skate myself anymore, but I have plenty of friends who do and they go through boards like crazy.

Hahahahha those skis are totally from the shop I work at or they were tuned or mounted there.
Yay Footloose!
Too bad we no longer carry line though... So sad.

not trying to scare anybody but i saw it and got a little bummed... seems like the durability might be an issue with tho wood idk tho def waiting a year if i pick a pair uip

Ferrari's Suck? Chillax, not sure what Ian did to break his skis but pretty sure he's not the first person in history to break a ski. I'd ask him if there's this much concern. After he broke it there was some weird tribal sacrifice ritual that they did to it to make it look like that. Man it needs to snow somewhere to thin out the angst on here, ha.

These skis are pretty dope. It's true skis break all the time. Compton skied on these all season, and everyone knows how hard that kid rips. He was skiing at Windells and ripped a blind 4 off the hundred foot rail and ate it pretty hard, but landed on his back with one ski taking all the impact before his fall. You can see the clip in his segment for New Intel's Metropolis.

Line Skis are dope, end of discussion.

ya compton slammed pretty hard when he broke that ski. The tip of the ski whip-lashed straight into the slushy snow, making it flex very abnormally on impact.

Im pretty sure any other ski would have broken in that situation.

Line skis this year are very durable. I mean come on, they have the best rail skiiers in the world riding for them... Theyve been heavily tested all year...

That's a good argument but it's been brought up a ton. Skateboards break because of people landing on the plywood super hard that is held up by the trucks. So it's like a lever. The skis aren't going to get near that kind of abuse. I wouldn't be worried about that part. And this is one pair out of tons of tested pairs by abusive pros. I will like to see how the public tests these first but I don't think it'll be bad. I mean the whole point of the afterbang was durability pretty much. That and controlled flex points.

ya know my friend told me it was a good idea to wait a year and see what happens but i didnt think much of it. i hope my afterbangs dont suck

Idk I think Compton definitely rips harder than most people on here so I wouldn't worry about it.

they've been skiing this for years. I think LINE knows what they're doin, I think im gettin a pair

my theory: if it's made like a skateboard, it will probably break like one. the more the a bangs take a beating, the softer they'll get, like every other ski, but with parallel construction like they have, i could see the material holding the plys together going bad and the ply's snapping... just my opinion i guess... line makes dope shit, but i've been skeptical about the a bangs since i first heard about em...

i don't understand the whole idea of having "skate plys" for a ski... it just seems structurally weak logically... maybe thats the problem i'm having...

im not hating on Line cause they make sick skis, but seriously how many people want afterbangs over other skis based solely on the name. someone in Line's market department deserves a lifetime supply of titties in the face

Compton probably skied more in the one season he rode his afterbangs than I will ride in like 2. There is evidence and he told me that it was very abnormal impact on the tip. Line will not ruin their reputation and will warranty their skis if there is a problem with them. And lastly, I can not wait to ride my afterbangs this season.

and to think that parents let their children get close to them at summer camp

sorry, that's counterproductive...

Line_Skis makes a good point.

one pair of broken skis certainly does not mean that they have bad quality.

they were ridden abnormally hard and any ski would break under those conditions it sounds like.

I personally didnt like them when I rode them, but I love my EPs and old Mo-Ships, and am looking at some moships/phropet 100s. Line is known for their amazing customer service and warrenty dept. Rest assured if there happen to be any problems, Line will make it right.

If he landed the way I think you all are saying, it's kinda like landing on your back and then your head shooting into the ground. You get that sling shot effect, drastically increasing the force of impact. Now imagine a ski doing that, with the tip hitting and bending it. If you slam hard, most skis are gonna do that. You can't say they have a issue unless you see like 100 pairs break for the same reason or something.

Yes it is true those are my skis and yes it is true they broke. However, they only had a small crack in the nose when it acualy happend. The real damage came from 3 guys that descided it would be funny to peel them completly apart when i wasnt home. Any ski would have broke. There is nothing wrong about the ski, there amazing and one of the most fun skis I have ever owned. Dont let a silly photo of a ski peeled apart by 3 alpha men worrie you, THEY ROCK!

all skis break somehow, there's no such thing as an indestructible ski. The real story will come out after this season, when everyone has ridden them.

Well way to dodge the issue entirely. The bottom didn't peel off of that Ferrari did it? If I slammed any car with a pole they would all crumple like that right? Has anyone else ever seen a ski break like that? Now I personally would like to know how a layer of a ski just peels off. I'm not saying your product is poor, but you've got to do better than that to address the issue.

That being said, my girlfriend loves her Celebrities and I am convinced of Line skis general durability.
