Afterbang

i don't like to bring hate but after bang really needs to stop it looks so fucking stupid

If you stomp a sick trick that you've been going for for a few weeks, possibly even the whole season then you should definitely be able to claim the shit out of it and be proud.

But after every trick? nah. Just chill and let the skiing speak for itself.

I reckon if you can stomp the shit out of it, dont claim, dont afterbang, just be setting up for the next feature or skiing away like it was nothing. soo much cooler than claiming.

If i its something ive been trying all season be stoked but i reckon it can only go so far

I thought this was about the movie and was close to dropping some hogan leg drops.

But I agree with you in the idea of guys constantly holding out their arms in the 'jeah' or 'what! what!' fashion. I needs to stop.

what the fuck someone please help me out.... afterbang? is that simply claiming a trick or what exactly is afterbang?

ummm... is the proper definition of afterbang when you land kind of sloppy and then put your arms down all cool and stuff to try and make up for the slopiness of the trick?

i think thats the definition... i seem to remember thats how they made it out to be when snowboarders invented the term about 4 or 5 years ago with that movie and stuff....

so heres the real debate... a lot of people are now calling afterbang what i would call landing smoothly and stomping the trick so hard you dont flail or anything.... like mike D on that cab 10 channel big air a few opens back... or anything wallisch does..... i wouldnt call that afterbang. i would call that stomping the trick.

completly agree if you just piss stomp and don't move thats landing clean but flailing and then attempting to make it look cool is afterbang

and secondly who cares?

i thought it was when you land a trick then try to look way more steezy than when you landed/ever would ski like, when your skiing away

DO WHATCHA WANT!

I feel afterbang is uneeded, but if you feel you want to do so, go for it!

I think of it was "jumping for joy" after landing something...

ahh the afterbang argument just cooled down

and this kid fired it up again

get over it and go skiing.

who the fuck cares.

It doesn't bother me at all. All it is is standing up straight after landing a trick, so what? Need some midol?

personally i think afterbang adds flavor to your style, sometimes it doenst look that good but when done correctly it makes my dick ooze

i was working on skiing switch with my legs closer together and some kid told me to quit the afterbang.

ghey.

this thread is stupid, cause in my experience... true afterbang is not something you have to think about. It's a feeling

at least for me, most of the time I know right away whether im about to stomp something or not and if I am, my body will throw itself into style-mode, gas as that sounds . Some kids just have it to a higher degree than others. It's not like your thinking "fuck i better throw my hands down and land in the most gangsta pose possible".

afterbang is like the cheddar, i mean a trick can make a tasty burger, but you're gonna want to throw some cheese on that shit.

i am a fan of the swiss burger myself. but word afterbang is the icing on the cake. the chips in the chocolate chip cookies. shits sick

afterbang is another way of going up to someone and saying that your shit is sickest ever.  if your good, your shit will look good, no need to broadcast it. think about it, you see andreas, tanner, jon, pollard or any of the other rediculous skiers doing it? there is just no need, if your smoothe and sick, people will notice.

note: not saying that its a bad thing, just saying that sometimes its just too much and people should just ski

Shit bugs me so much.

You can stomp shit without over exaggerating the fuck out of it and looking like a retard.

Just ride away normally kids.

This afterbang shit is why i can't stand watching some riders, who are super good ride.

Example: the jiberish edits with wallisch and brogan (both amazing riders) but when they land like that i just want to look away and pretend it didn't happen.

It's just not right or natural and i don't want to see this be the "good", "steezy" way to land.

FUCK AFTERBANG.

People who hate ride away (afterbang) either can't do it or haven't done it before. Shits baller.

but take the last hit in the first jibberish edit where tom stomps the shit out of that handplant cork 5 over the tire, one of the most "afterbanged" tricks in that edit.. are you telling me that it looked forced in anyway??... he just lands super relaxed... not to mention it just makes it look super smooth..

thats different. i mean if you land standing in a taller stance, thats one thing. its when people land crouched, not touching down just land with knees bent, and then thrust forward and stand up straight thats gay. i have nothing against people stomping the shit out of landings like wallish, its when people don't stomp it and try to seem like they did thats annoying.

riding away smooth and in control is good, smooth body movement into a better stance and a controlled ride away is good.

Making up for a shitty trick by locking your elbows and jerking up straight is stupid. after a smooth trick, why would you want to make a super quick, jerky motion? Stomp you fucking trick and you won't have to look dumb trying to make up for it.

In that sense, afterbang is dumb as fuck.

However, the jibberish movie that has recently brought this debate up was full of stomped tricks, not much that anyone here can hate on.

at first I wasn't a huge fan but now I really like it! I think if you can make your own type of afterbang not copy someone elses it def can be somethin totally original to you and really add to your style

CZA if you wanna do something about you can use my gun
