Afterbang is the worst thing ever

I just saw some dumb article on here about "jossi wells steezy afterbang during the dew tour and how the golden era is coming back in skiing" and I thought two things

1. why do people still care/watch the dew tour? as far as im concerned comp skiing is a lost cause and should be kept as far away from style as possible; see the snowboard industries distinct divide between comp kids and film riders.

2. Afterbang is the most contrived and stupid thing ever, for some reason a bunch of 12 year olds on the internet decided looking like a boner and leaning back while going limp is the coolest thing ever. its just like when kids on sk8boards do tre flips with their back leg super extended cuz its "Super steezy bro"

I feel like in skiing people dont even care about fake vs. real style and it takes away from the true expression and meaning in skiing when skiing turns into this thing where you watch it and are like "this guy is the most steezy bro cuz he has the hardest afterbang"

TLDR: afterbang turns skiing into a stupid joke and the whole era of afterbang and fake style was a pretty big joke

Jossi is the real winner here because he is just trolling the world by casually doing the same dew tour run every year like most other skiers in that competition and making a lot of money from his sponsors while people like sammy c have to jump off the biggest jump in the world to earn a decent sum from film skiing

Shoutouts to random people like jack borland and jerm vey and andy parry who just have their own style and progress in it so that people can look at it and see the qualities in it and be like "that guy does his own thing and it is sick"

Directed at op.

Everyone bangs their own way, if you don't bang I question your sanity. Feel the landings be the landings.

But for real dude? You're complaining about someone not being robotic in the dew tour sounds like a good thing to me.

Each person's style is different but you can watch any pro they've all got their own afterbang they throw in, its progressed from just leaning back and heavy headed to being clean and proper and anything in between sometimes you nail a trick and just have to stomp the fuck out of that landing, what's so bad about that? Shit even gymnasts stick their landings with flair mange

newschoolers you guys are being massive kooks

Steve stepp makes a whole series about trolling peoples styles and i make one post about fake styles in skiing and its like you guys have never heard of it before.

If Im trying to say anything constructive in this thread its that competitions like the dew tour are such a lost cause that jossi can land backseat and drop his arms and its like some big news like comp skiing is changing. the only way comp skiing can change is if it goes into different hands then fis

Fis makes money off of the rigid and straight forward way of slopestyle competitions, it makes a bunch of comp kids want to learn how to do all 4 dubcorks and hire coaches and go to camps etc...

If competitions were hosted by someone like a magazine or something based off interest and entertainment, the competitions would be entertaining and geared towards us, the viewers.

So if anything i just brought up jossis run to point out how desperate we are to see any personality in the dew tour and in hindsight i shouldve made this thread about how the dew tour sucks, nonetheless i still stand by what i said

Everybody thinks people have their own styles but style in skiing has such significant trends that you can watch some skiing and guess what year its from based on the style that any given skier from that time period has. not everybody is like this but it definitely is real.

lol. Jack and Jerm both afterbang constantly. they do it jokingly too.

Who the fuck cares dude? I don't understand why you made a thread to complain about other people. Skiing is about good vibes and having fun not worrying about other peoples style.

fuck you OP bang is where the sport started and where it will one day end. get your shit together else tod walnuts the pretzel man will never allow you into heaven

Skiing is actually 80% talking shit and 20% doing real skiing for me, but remember it's free skiing so I guess you should be okay with that

Im not even gonna waste my time trying to come up with a real response to this.

You are so lost OP. I have no hope for you.

Key word there is "trolling". Steve is a great technical skier but his style is one of the best in the game. There's a reason people watched him for so long before he could even throw a dub. Style is important, afterbang is relevant, you're bad at NS

Op seriously. Nothing's wrong with a little afterbang. Everyone has there own style and that's how skiing progresses. If everyone did the same thing we would be up shit creek like you. Don't fuck with people who are trying to bring some vintage style.

yeah a lot of 12 year olds force it but heres a crazy thought, there are a lot of common tricks on skis that everyone does, and you land in similar ways, and your body has to absorb the landing, so surprise surprise when two people have similar after bang,

but ur right some people do force it in which case they should find their own feeling of style

Some of you guys don't even seem to give what I said a thought at all, personally I watch a lot of skiing, and after watching some skiing with some fake style, I honestly can't even remember more than a few tricks, it's just here today an gone tomorrow.

If you have a real true style it is memorable, I know I'm not the only one in 2015 who can watch someone's fake style and not remember a thing about it, it's so forgettable.

I've been you guys before making fun of someone who has an unpopular opinion on newschoolers, but this type of shit actually bothers me and nobody seems to talk about it in skiing so I thought I'd bring it up

And I'm not afraid to say that while I was a kid slumdog illionare and all that stuff was the coolest shit ever, and I was about 12-14 during those times.

However looking back on it sometimes it feels like straight up cultural appropriation and occasionally really annoying biggie smalls remixes all with some styles that seemed like everybody was just biting off each other. When we look back it feels nostalgic and cool but as soon as I point out the downsides to that era and largely the reasons that skiing has [marginally] progressed from it, ppl want to ban me

You should write more essays on this vitally important subject.

Remember when Steve was wearing tight pants and had "tight pants style" then he had "bdog mittens style" he's trolling how people in skiing treat style like this grab bag of styles that you can just adopt by how you dress and shit, that's the thing I'm talking about.

Honestly you guys think I'm the kook but in other cultures like surfing and skateboarding people will shit on other people for having a fake or bad style

skiing should take some hints from surfing and skating but this is certainly not one of them

LVV as the real mvp for announcing jossi's afterbang thus resulting in op and others' disgust at afterbang lulz
