After unmounting Madtrix binding... HOW?

OK, I'm going to unmount my madtrix_system binding and then mounting back just the tyrolia ds9 binding onto the madtrix again.

i know that you have to mount the binding with the nose facing 'big mountain' mode but i'm not sure how far from the center split line i have to mount this shit.

do i mount it exactly in the center or 1cm? 2cm? 5cm? to the back of the center line?

just measer the ski and take half of that and theres your center line, then bump it back 5 cm, but you really should have a shop do it...

Isn't 5cm to the back too much 'back'? i'll be jibbing in the pipes and rails. i don't do much of big air.

I got dibs on his skis after he fucks em up so badly he gives them away.

Street skiing skis, here I come!

aren't those bindings heavy as hell??

the system binding is heavy but the tyrolia ds9 binding mounted on the system is light.

yeah, gonna ditch the heavy system and make my madtrix lighter.

ok, so 5cm back from the center will be the best balance for my twins?

that seems to be the concensus

Jules: Whoa... whoa... whoa... stop right there. Eatin' a bitch out, and givin' a bitch a foot massage ain't even the same fuckin' thing.

Vincent: Not the same thing, the same ballpark.

Jules: It ain't no ballpark either. Look maybe your method of massage differs from mine, but touchin' his lady's feet, and stickin' your tongue in her holyiest of holies, ain't the same ballpark, ain't the same league, ain't even the same fuckin' sport. Foot massages don't mean shit.

Vincent: Have you ever given a foot massage?

Jules: Don't be tellin' me about foot massages - I'm the foot fuckin' master.

Vincent: Given a lot of 'em?

Jules: Shit yeah. I got my technique down man, I don't tickle or nothin'.

Vincent: Have you ever given a guy a foot massage?

Jules: Fuck you.

Vincent: How many?

Jules: Fuck you.

Vincent: Would you give me a foot massage? I'm kinda tired.

Jules: Man, you best back off, I'm gittin' pissed.

BFSC.... we do it froggy style

yah dude seriously, fork over the cash and have a shop do it

better to burn out...

...then fade away

very true, let a shop do it, ive seen a few kids come in with fucked up skis they tried to mount themselves. They either drill too far in/drill at an akward angle, or just plain fuck something up. A jig not only aligns the holes for the binding pattern, it prevents over drilling (drilling too deep) and allows a perfectly vertical hole

good luck if u try it

get a shop to do it. bindings are the only things that you shouldn't do yourself..... unless you're a shop tech w/ the right tools. wax em, sharpen em', paint em, destroy em, whatever, but DON'T do the bindings yourself.

Get a shop to do it. Any shop worth the cash they charge to mount can remove the stupid plate and mount the bindings. You can't mount your own bindings, so don't even try. and if you look at all the pics, Jon Olson seems to center mount his madtrix(not sure on that) so you could consider it.

h30films you should know that a jig has nothing to do with hole depth. a jig shows you the whole patten for that perticular binding and guides the drill bits in verticly so that you dont get angled holes. what is fred teachin you guys up there?

actually a jig will only let you drill in so far, providing you use the right bit

smitt, no it's not bad. That's how I rode mine and I liked em. You're fine.

the jig has nothing to do with how far you drill in, how far you drill in just depends on the drill bit you select, commen ones are 3.5 x7.5 or 4.1 x 9.5 and so on. The first number is the width of the bit, and the second number is the depth of the bit. its kind of hard to explain to anyone who has never seen a drill bit for skis before. there disign is a good one, its impossible to drill through the ski anymore unless your a complete retard.

vtrider explained correctly. The jig has nothing to do with how far you drill you into the ski, the bit does. And yeah, its sort of hard to explain it. I'll get a picture of it. Hold on.

Sorry for crappy quality, but you can see what were talking about.

yea, only the middle part of the bid drills in, the part where it gets wider actually stops the bit from going any farther when it hits the top sheet of the ski.

Some say to mount it with Big Air forward while some say to mount with Big Mountain mode forward.

I'm thinking of mounting mine towards Big Mountain mode cause I do a lot of pipes and rails and not too much of big air.

Which is correct?

Use the big mountain tip as your tip. The big air tip isn't as wide, and riding it forward could be weird. If you don't, you'll end up with dimensions like 110(tip), 90(Waist) and 120(Tail) and that wouldn't make sense. You want the opposite. Tip fatter than the tail. Trust me on this one. You'll be very sorry if you don't.

u know what? the tension of big mountain(bm) tip and big air(ba) is different. of course, bm tip is wider and ba tip narrower AND bm tip is softer and ba tip is harder which makes sence cause if you were to huck an air, u would rotate the system binding so that your tip is ba and tail bm. that way, when you land an air, the soft & wide bm tip would cushion the landing.

of course, if u were to ski mogul and u have to have a stiff tail and soft tip so when you enter a mogul your bm tip can absorb the shock from the tip hitting the mogul.

this is the reason why i got confused on which way to mount the binding.

Well, we're here to help each other out, right? Anyways, I'd go BM tip forward, but that's just me. If you check out a 1080's flex profile, you'll notice that though it's soft all around, the tip/front of the ski is softer than the tail. Mount your madtrix so that it works the same way. That's what I would do, but I'm no tech god.
