I have to say K2 is not guilty like the other bigger companies. While the Fujatives may not last that long they were not desingend to either. They were desiegned to be a cheap comp ski or rail ski built with cheap materials. Also its only $250 while companys like salomon would charge $500 for it. The Fuj also has a veryinovative flex patern created by the k2 team. The public enamey is only $360 in most stores and is a high quality well thought out ski that k2 worked very hard to perduce and listned to what the riders input. Skis from salomon havnt changed over the last 3 years, have foam cores and are $500.

 
if you like his idea u def shouldnt get atomics. atomic is like the biggest racing company out there. im not saying i agree with him, but it would be nice to be without racing companies always being more popular then us

 
Atomic also makes one of the most quality twin tips out there.

Anyways, I agree with most of the things you've said , UTmeathead, but the fact that the THALL is a completely new idea is, well, not. We've already seen a ski with softer tips and tails, dulled edges, okay, thats new I'll give you that. Please, I'd love to buy 4FRNT's, but they are expensive, which is understandable because they are a small company. If I had the money I'd be more interested in their stuff, but for now, I'll go with quality products and lower prices, 4FRNT doesn't have a grasp on the latter just yet. ALthough from what I've heard, they are quality boards, so drop the prices and I'm sold.

I could list the STL and AR5 comparison but I'm too lazy to type. After looking at those prices, how can you say 4FRNT or Armada are over-priced? These companies are RAPING you, and you don't even see it.

A $600 all-mountain twin that is the most durable ski on the market is a steal. But don't take my word for it, go buy a SugarDaddy or PocketRocket and feel good that you're supporting a company who's laughing at you...

 
Yes, you are right, MSRP prices of those skis are relatively close. I haven't payed retail for skis for a while, most shops sell the other skis listed for $200 less than advertised. I haven't seen 4FRNT's or Armada's for much less, nor have I seen many people selling them cheap.

Alot of those skis retail for around $800, if they're selling for $200 cheaper, that puts them at $600. That's the same price as the QUALITY skis that retail at $600. Why would you choose anything different?

I totally agree with this post. I met Matt Sterbenz earilier this year and he told me that really makes sense. These athletes are out busting their asses to make a product and it is as good product. There is no reason to buy Salomons or Rossignol skis over 4frnt Armada Line Liberty etc. These companies are putting out incredible stuff right now and we should support them with our money because that money will go directly back to our part of skiing instead of paying for Bode Miller's paycheck.

I think waht hes trying 2 say is that we should support indy companies cuz they are in it for the benefit of our sport. They take alot of work and really dont make much money. This contrasts supporting a company like salomon or volkl which makes a few twin tips, and sure theyre probably good skis. But they only started making em when freeskiing got big, theyre in it moslty for the money. And since theres such a huge difference between freeskiing and ski racing. It doenst really make sense that a company that has been a race company forever make twin tips. Thats like saying ur a redsox fan, but u sell yankees shirts for a living

 
You ever stop to think that all of us aren't rich enough to buy all this independent shit. Props if you can but i rock out my dyna trubs that i got on sale. My cheap burton pants that i got at the sale. thinkin about buyin some nice down grandoe gloves. For real if the independent companies would lower their prices and make them easier to buy i probably would buy them but around there there isnt a single shop that carries 4FRNT and hardly any carry DNA or hellyhansen or shit like that. maybe if there were more shops, i'd buy. for now i go cheap and easy

what do you mean you cannot afford it? did you not see the msrp price list at the top of the page? you are paying almost exactly the same amount for armada 4frnt etc as you are from head salomon etc.

K2 does have alot of companies under is umbrella, but all that finacial success equals better equipment for all of us. Have you seen the K2 graphite skipoles? They took the technology from another company K2 aquired, Shakespeare fishing rods, and have built THE best pole on the market.

Your Fugitive comment is probably as unfounded as any, that ski is incredible at what its designed to do for the price, untouchable.

Go buy a snowboard and sell out like most everyone else.
