I've been on 7 African safaris and I have seen 4 kids be abducted by kony. He killed the fat one because he said he had no use for him.(yes I speak Bantu) OP don't go if u are fat or unathletic
You'll love Kilimanjaro. It's hard work, but coming up to the summit at sun rise is the most amazing experience. I felt completely safe on the mountain... You'll probably fly into Arusha.. Not so safe... What hotel are you staying at?
It's considered the easiest of the peaks ( highest mountains on each continent) but that's just because it isn't a technical climb, supposedly a very long and tiring uphill hike
Thats what I thought, Ive never not completed a hike with my dad and I feel like this would be a sweet one to do. Know how many hours avg it is by any chance?
They make you take like 4 days on it I think at the least. Kilimanjaro is the most underrated mountain ever so many people just go in with a oh it's an easy hike mindset and just get their shit rocked by the altitude. But if you are an avid hiker go for it.
my buddy just climbed kilamanjaro last week. not sure how much it cost him but certainly not thosands of dollars (for the permit I mean). It's like $15/day and you need to stay a minimum of like 5 days. I think they hired a guide as well.
Probably cause 99% of the people on this site are ignorant white rich kids. Obviously Africa deals with conflict and disease but that barely scratches the surface of all there is to know and see on the continent. The fact that you associated Africa automatically with Kony shows how small your bubble of information is. Every 12 year old with access to youtube knows that. Is that the extent of your knowledge?
I went to Uganda last summer and honestly it is an amazing place.
The one thing you HAVE to do is go on a safari. They take you out in a landrover and show you all sorts of animals.
The culture there is very different though. People are really chill so showing up on time isn't too common. The driving there is crazy so I don't recommend renting a car.
The people there are really friendly and easy to work with and surprisingly a lot of them speak english.
Be sure to always carry your own water and try to be as sanitary as possible without being offensive to the people. If you treat them like they are some dirty disgusting people they won't respect you as much.
Be prepared for everyone to stare at your because you are white.
All in all it's a great place just make sure you do your research and have a nice plan.
