Advice on types of skis?

So basically my brother bought me some k2 mindbenders for my birthday way back in april, I had some tyrolia attacks mounted on them and I've just been skiing on them lately since they're my only pair of skis. I'm very grateful and appreciative that my brother bought them for me cause my broke ass of a high school student doesn't have the money to buy the gear myself, but I'm just curious to see what others think about potentially selling them and buying a pair of park skis/twin tips instead? I'm not a park rat but I'm also getting a little bored of just carving down a run all the time, as fun as it is. I'm really only doing ollies and flat 180's and trying to get a feel for tricks but I'd like to start exploring a little more, maybe hitting jumps and trying stuff on them, things like that. I'm no expert, I just feel like twin tips are potentially more versatile? I've heard things like moguls are maybe easier with them and I do remember hearing some guy reply to a thread saying he'd rather ski the entire mountain on twin tips than ski park on directional skis. Anyway, thanks in advance, I know this question probably doesn't have a very definite answer and is more subjective

In all honesty, unless you plan on spending the majority of you're time hitting rails or riding switch, you will be able to live without them for a little longer.

Be realistic... You are still in high school and don't have any money. Be thankful for what you have now.

Just ride them out the rest of this season and over the summer mow some laws or something then look into getting a new pair. Then that way you can have a pair for the park and a pair for just shredding the groomers, glades, and powder. It will be the best of both worlds trust me. It won't make you appear ungrateful to your brother and you will get to appreciate the fact that you saved up and were able to buy the pair that you truly wanted all by yourself.

I remember being in a very similar situation to you roughly 10 years ago or so when was in 9th grade. I had just spent the previous two seasons renting skis and I was finally ready to get my very own pair. At the time, my heart was set on getting the new LINE AFTERBANGS because I just thought they were the coolest things ever. I remembering asking my parents constantly for them to be my birthday present.

My father, wanting to to do something nice and knowing nothing about skis, went to the local ski shop and ending up purchasing me a pair K2 AMPs, as a surprise birthday present. Of course, I was super bummed and remember being an ungrateful brat about it, but in the end, I could still shred the mountain and have loads of fun. I learned how to throw 3's, Lincoln loops, and just all sorts of stupid shit with them despite them not being twin tips. You'll be fine.

I ski mindbender 108s as my daily in CO and they are fucking awesome. Way better than my twin tips for getting after it. Unless you want to learn how to become a park skier you should be fine. If you want to learn rails you need two skis anyway cause you need to detune the crap out of them

Idk which width you have tho. The 108s I think are softer and more fun than the 99s.

Its really sick that your brother got you a pair of mindbenders, they are a dope ski. Keep em. The only thing they might hold you up from doing is skiing switch/landing 180s, and I think they've got enough tail rocker to sorta work. As for everything else, jumps/jibs/rails, they'll be fine. Get a job this summer, and save up to get yourself a nice set of twins. (If you get a job in a ski/bike shop, you will probably be able to get a steep discount (~50% on skis/bindings).

Ur brother is a sick dude wtf

he works at amazon and told me he was having a hard time figuring out how to spend his money lol, guess blowing a few hundred on mindbenders wasn't a big deal to him. also probably figured that our asian parents would never shell out the money to buy me skis so maybe that's another reason

K2 Reckoner, Line Chronic, Honey Badger or Blend, or a few from ON3P, or Moment, depending on your style.

Looking for deals over the summer is the way to go. Most shops discount skis pretty heavily in the off-season. Liberty Helix 88s are a really fun park ski. I use the Faction Prodigy 1.0 too, and they're one of my favourite skis ever. The Armada ARV series is pretty well loved as well as the B-dogs and E-dollos.
