Hey all I have a wide range on primes and a few higher end zoom lenses but am leaving for a trip to China next week and just don't want to be bothered with the huge undertaking of lugging multiple lenses there.
Ideally only want to carry camera body, flash and single lens.
Do you guys have any experience with this lens first hand?
I know it is not as sharp as something like the 24-70 2.8 but I wanted really an all in one lens and was wonder if it was this one?
Thanks

I use it on my D80 and love it. It's the only lens I have other than my samyang fisheye. I'm not the best person to talk to in terms of comparisons because it's the only lens I have, but I think it's very sharp. It sounds perfect for what you need it for.

variable aperture=raped by black cock.

Get a 50mm f/1.8

and then a 70-200.

or if you're on a budget.

get a 35mm f/1.8

50mm f/1.8

and then a 55-300

i have one. it's pretty sharp throughout the full range of focal lengths. it does everything well, but isnt the best at anything. it would be great for travelling if you only want to bring one lens and want to be able to have the flexibility of a zoom lens.
