Advice on cutting/removing grips on poles?

I want to cut my Swix CT1 (composite) poles down from 50" to about 46" and I was wondering if anyone has any good advice on how to get the grips off? It is pretty damn hard. Or would it be a better bet to just take off the tip/basket (both are removable) and not bother with the grip?

Also shoud I be worried at all about the fact that they are carbon fiber/composite? Like will they splinter or not cut cleanly without the proper tools?

Just pull the grips off, it takes a little force. As for it being composite it should be just fine to cut.

put them under really, really hot water, or in boiling water. Then stand on two chairs with the grip under stuck under it, and pull up.

and to cut, composite splinters, so you'll want to use a band saw or something that cuts super clean. a regular hacksaw should be fine if you take it easy. get some.

soak in boiling water then have someone close a door on it and just RAM that shit until it comes off...every time i've done it its worked in like 3 seconds

just do what everyone else in here has said...but i wonder wat was running through ur mind when u asked if u should take off the baskets instead? i dont understand wat that would do for you, shortening poles by cutting the tips off....
