I think that if you want to do it, you should be able to. People can sell their skis, why can't you sell yours? Line reps could sell brand new skis on here, and NS wouldn't know they were reps at all.

People have done this, I'm sure of it. And you mods just delete it.

Why? It promotes the upcoming of skiing for newer companies such as EC headwear to get themselves out there.
 
You're advertising right now, look at your signature. I think its good we keep it like this, otherwise there would be threads for everyones products clogging the forums.

they wouldn't clog the forums. If you just sell your products it would be like any old FS: something thread.
 
As long as companies arent spamming the forums its fine. I actually look for the people who work in the industry because their opinion means something more than your average person. I wish NS would give these people more free reign in the forums because they can tell people whats really going on.
 
Well then smart guy, who do you think is going to back this site with money?

If no one pays to advertise, NS doesnt run and you people can't advertise (for free) you crappy ski/shirt/hat companys.

Unless you have a better idea, I suggest you stop talking and stop bitching. NS is free for you.
 
haha I'm planning to donate once I get some money into paypal.

But there are the big companies who advertise their website on there because they have the $$$. That always brings in more hits than any forum post. They also don't have to rely on NS to get site hits.

And i'm sure that there are reps on here who sell their skis that they get free or something.

The smaller companies need something to start off with, and the bigger one's don't.
 
Money comes in every day, mods.

Sponsors on the right hand side of the page, banner ads at the top. There are tons of donators. NS clothing sold out well.

You get plently of $$$, let the smaller companies get some reputation for free. If they do get big, then they have the $$$ to post ads on your site.
 
NS clothing didnt go to us, that was the remnents if the Harvey days of the site. It was his money that went into it.

If you think you have a better way to run this so people can look at you ski graphics, again feel free to voice your concerns to Chris...he will let you know whats up

and if I wanted people to look at ski graphics, I'd just post 'em. I did that before, nobody intervened.

I wasnt talking about myself mostly. I was talking about all the upcoming companies.
 
You're completely wrong. They WOULD clog the forums. If you had any idea how much advertising gets deleted out of the site every day you'd be offended. Companies aren't able to self-regulate, and the forums would be one big advertising shitshow. We want our forums to be cleaner than that.

If personal people want to sell personal stuff, that is what the Ski Equipment forum is for.

Small companies need to realise that NS IS giving you a huge break with our ad rates. You can advertise with us for 6 months for 35% of the cost of a single page ad in a magazine.

The problem arises when someone wants to pretend they have a company, and when it comes to marketing dollars the only money they want to spend is zero. If you're a legit company that is actually planning to do something REAL then you've got to spend money!

Afterall, you want free advertising from us, but want to make money off of it. There is no part of our world where that makes sense.

I also have a request. Before ANYONE with a small company bitches EVER again about not being able to advertise for free I have two things to say.

#1 - If you can't spend money on marketing your company is never going to go anywhere.

#2 - Those of you who have actually taken the time to contact me about ads know what we're offering and realise that we are taking care of this problem. We've got great sales on ads going on right now, and new options for the smaller companies coming out every single day.

Please stop trying to make NS out like the company that is holding down all the small companies. We are the ONLY ones giving them a chance! Try blaming the Magazines that won't even talk to you about ads unless you've got thousands of dollars to drop.

are you planning on putting the NS logo on every piece of clothing you make...cause really thats only fair right??
 
What if some from ninthward, or any company really, just responds to a typical thread asking which skis should I get. I think that company rep should be able to help out.
 
You'd get better, less biased (generally) advice for your average NS user. I'd much rather that than the opinion of a rep who is ALWAYS going to try and flog you one of his products when there could be others out there from other manufacturers that suit you better.

As for Royale's suggestion about allowing companies to advertise in forums; that is probably the most ridiculous and stupid idea since, in the 1920s, French architect Le Corbusier dared to suggest that the center of Paris should be demolished and replaced with 18 sixty-storey concrete apartment blocks. Thank God the French authorities didn't listen to that total loon...and thank God the NS authorities don't listen to you.
 
Yeah that is totally fine. Company reps are encouraged to respond to other member's questions.

However, when a company makes an alias just to start talk about their own company, that's not cool. We catch you, we can research IP's.
