i am trying to put together a little digital video project, but premere plays back the previews all choppy, like its trying to ply it back faster than my computer can handle... i've played around with the settings when you first open the program, but it doesnt seem to help... if anyone out there is familiar with this program, maybe you can help a brotha out...

 
if you press enter, it should render the whole video so it should play smooth, also check that its not running dv out into your camcorder if its still plugged in

If the playback is choppy on your monitor that probably means that it is still hooked up to your camera...either unplug the firewire or watch it on your cam.

Yeah, try rendering the movie. If it still doesn't work, save it. THen restart the computer and go back into preimier, render it again and then try playing it!

your problem is yes either yur computer lacks and cnaoot handle play back, or your dv camcorder is still plugged in. This unplug it and it will work. Or you will have to produce the file so you can watch it. Do this by going export timeline. Change the settings so that it is lowquality so it will produce faster.

shit, my premiere 6.5 and divx5.02 codec seems to be fucked up.

whenever i try to encode an avi file with divx5.02, it goes up to 8% encoding and all freezes.

i hate this kind of bugs. maybe divx5.02 is not stable?

You don´t wanna make your DivX5.02 movie straight from premiere. Read more from www.afterdawn.com (How to make DVD rip to DivX)Download virtualdub or nandub and use 2pass technique to compress to DivX.
