so basically i want to take a image off google images and make it a .png so i can make it have a transparent backround and it put it in a video in final cut pro, every time i bring it to save template for web devices it has a white back round behind it so it would show up in the video. Any ideas how to take that image so its easily put in a video with a transparent backround? its a image of waterville valleys logo to put in the intro of my edit.

thanks!

I don't know illustrator, but if it has layers just remove what you want to be transparent, and save as png? You can easily do it in PS.

i heard you can lasso that backround off, but im not really fimilair with ps as much except for hdrs, so i dont know how to do that,

this'll probably be the easiest way then

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

select what you don't want and delete it.

You could use the pen tool in illustrator if you wanted.

Use the pen tool to make your outline and then select load path as section.

However, to speed it up and depending what you're trying to cut, I would use live trace, and then delete the excess paths and then load the path as a selection. I've never done it but I think it should work.

If you just want to get rid of the background, go into photoshop, and use the select color range tool. Select the white and it will select the background. Then just delete those pixels. If there is white on the image, you can create a new layer behind the image and just fill in the missing areas.

Then colaspe those to layers, select the pixels, then in the channels create a new channel and fill the selection with white. That will create your alpha channel, if you need it.
